Well, two days before my surgery.  I am spending my time mourning my little dog that just lost his six month battle with lymphangiectasia (and chylothorax), doing Kegel exercises, putting my personal house (finances, records) on order, preparing what I need for the hospital visit and afterwards, and trying to psyche myself that it will be a good experience and I will soon be a member of the Zero Club, and that I CAN cope with the potential side effects.  Wednesday is the day With Davinci (Dr. Tim Wilson) at City of Hope.

I am very sorry about your dog. That is especially tough timing with your surgery coming up.

I think you will be relieved once the surgery is done. There will be new challenges but I was glad when the waiting time was over. Good luck!

Take it one day at a time, krm001. Not much else you can do. My da Vinci procedure was September 2008. It took about 6-months post-op for things to settle-down a little. Each of our bodies reacts differently. A positive attitude is important. Best of luck with the procedure. See you on the otherside.

krm, sorry about the loss of your dog, and good luck with your surgery, look forward to seeing you safely on the 'other side', and your entry into the "zero" club.

KRM, looking forward to your post-op report and sad to hear about your dog. My boxer has cancer and outlived his Vet's suggested life expectancy. He still runs with me and the other dogs, but boy I will miss him when he is gone. In the mean time take care and looking forward to hearing about a zero for you.

I too am sorry about your dog. Remember the surgery is not too tough as will sleep through it.  Also we have a new by-law "All prostates must be returned empty"  See you on the other side as you begin your new journey and road of recovery.  With your enlarged prostate and history of urination troubles in a few weeks you will again pee like a teenager. smilewinkgrin

Best of luck with the surgery. As others have said, it's not that bad. So sorry to hear about your dog. It's nice to have a buddy to keep you company post op. I was grateful to have my best mate by my side when I came out of hospital. Keep us posted on your recovery.

It's not a bad procedure. I had absolutely no pain. Take one day at a time. Best of luck.

Sorry about your dog, I lost mine last year, just remember the fun and adventures they gave you.

The surgery was nowhere near as bad as in my head:) you'll do fine
and we'll see you on the other side.

Here's wishing you all the best, KRM.  I agree with the other guys that the surgery isn't all that bad.  A buddy who saw me said I looked like hell, but I didn't feel all that bad.  It felt good to put it behind me.

Please keep in touch.  I hope you hear those beautiful words, "It's organ contained.  Clean margins."

Sorry to hear about your dog. Rough timing for sure. Try and relax until your surgery. It will be over before you know it and you'll be on the road to recovery. Good luck and keep us posted.

The roads are all different, but we all have the same objectives. You get to add getting a new "little buddy" settled in. Maybe that wil help you get moving and motivated.

I haven't had a dog in years (my job / life / travel doesn't permit), but my neighbors' pets all add to the family - any one missing hurts.

KRM, it is sad to lose a beloved pet.  I am sorry for your loss.  May your surgery be simple and successful, and we'll see you on the other side!

good luck with your "date" . THe best part about mine was that I woke up feeling "groovey" you know, the sixies kind. Actually I don't know, but I imagine that what groovey feels like. I hope you wake up feeling as good as I did. After getting out of bed the first time things were easy. Good luck.

Just read your post - will be thinking of you tomorrow - just remember you have a support system and many here to encourage and help. I am 68 and will have
surgery on Dec 9th (still recovering from ecoli (infection #2). Look forward and wish you well. So sorry to hear about your dog - we have one also - they are true all the time.
Let us know how you are doing - will remember you tomorrow.

Thank you all very much. Just packing my things, books, sweatpants, slippers, doughnut to seat on, etc. Got the call from City of Hope. My surgery is at 11:30 AM. Prep time at 9:00AM. Will report as soon as I am able. Thanks again.

Wish you the best, I am sorry to hear you lost your dog. My Davinci was uneventful, an overnight stay and I was home before noon the next day. I'll bet yours goes as well.
