Pads and Airport Body Scanners?

Although I go padless to work as of last week, I still wear one (daytime) when I think I need one, including when I think a bathroom nay not be available. I have some long flights coming up starting next week from Seattle - Amsterdam - Johannesburg - Paris (CDG) - Seattle. Due to uncertain security line times I'm thinking of wearing a pad in the security lines. Does anyone have any experience with what the TSA in the USA does with respect to the newer body scanners when it comes to men wearing pads? Maybe I just show off my robotic abs :) Also, although I don't anticipate leaving the security areas in either Amsterdam or Paris CDG, any info as to what Europe is doing these days would be appreciated. Any Johannesburg info?

I went through security 4 times on the GFMPH trip in September. Rochester had the fancy "hands in the  air" tube.

Rochester and Atlanta both "saw" the pads and patted me down. The excitement generated by my stash of pads in the carry-on bag actually caused more chaos. I'm not sure what a dozen pads look like on an x-ray screen, but they didn't like it, and I had to open the bag. The poor TSA lady was embarrassed, the guys were sheepish (I reminded them to look around in the breakroom later, 1 in 6 would be packing the same way in a few years - offered to give them a sample, and they vanished).

Actually my Calypso markers seemed to set machines off that I have been through many times without issue. They couldn't figure out what they were "detecting", but once I explained it, they let me go on. In theory they shouldn't show up, but ....

I've not been overseas since surgery.

dj, i am still worried about every flying again, since I have to wear the Urostomy device. Even though the adhisvie is strong, it wouldnt take much poking or prodiing by a TSA agent to cause it to break the seal. If so, I would start pouring instantly, and wetting my pants. Changing one in an airport restroom would not be an easy affair, and that assumes I had dry clothes to exchange, and then what to do with the wet clothes. It has made me re-think any air travel.

I was through Bermuda security twice with SP tubing and a quart leg bag, and had no comment or extra anything from security.

I suspect this may be because at that airport they see the package all the time.

For those traveling with tubes, I suggest that you ask for the private area and not the public pat down if they select you for extra screening.
i'll bet the first reaction from TSA or foreign equivalents once the plumbing is seen is to back off quickly, and I will bet they don't pat anything, let alone tug it.

The doctor advised me to wear an external defibrillator until they could figure out a cardiac issue I was having. It looks like what I wuld imagine a terrorist would wear, with wires, big pads, and electrodes, along with a healthy sized battery pack on my broth.

I went to Canada on a hunting trip, and told them I needed a manual check. They swiped my hands for explosive residue, as well as the device I wore. No probing or pushing anything. Both the U.S. and Canadian sides were no problem. I would not have worried if I had a leg bag, or ostomy bag. They were very gentle.

By the way, they never said a word about my pad.

Thanks all. I appreciate the info. I didn't know how good I was at Dutch, as I think I pronounced PCa just like that in the Scotch assisted days immediately after Dx.
