Just something to be aware of major medical centers although seemingly all excellent....almost always have and do standard protocols (also they are profittable as a primary goal on their end of the ledger), they don't consider other protocols that can be done by independents and independent PCa oncologists like the specialists we might know of. I know this is highly controversial, and what isn't on PCa issues. I found a local oncologist whom is independent and exactly the type of guy I want to have treating me and I myself not looking for arrogance, agendas and a doc whom spends 5 minutes with you and walks onto the next patient, or is more concerned with himself and lacks the virtues of the hypocratic oath.
So, you have choices and the in effect 'game' can be played from various angles, so it is your choice. Another guy I know met with one of the same U of M. onco docs and decided to go elsewhere and he is most highly informed on PCa issues...he knows his choices and is getting them handled by using independents and he is very pleased in so doing.
I could hire or get U of M or other major medical centers in my super high risk case, but so far I elect to stay just where I am and into year 10 coming up soon. I would probably be slammed into chemo and that is not my priority for quality living or told to stay on Lupron for life...I dropped the Lupron almost 8 years ago and fired the uro-doc I had.
Not looking to argue any points here, you chose what you want. Good hunting, cause that is what it is.
