Boxers or Briefs

Theoretically my catheter comes out tomorrow (and it won't be soon enough).  I'm curious what folks have found more comfortable, more effective in holding pads in place, and less revealing of the pads - Boxers or Briefs.

Anyone able share your experience?

- sorry, but boxers will not hold the pad in place and you will probably leak at the side - the shorter version of me now hangs (sorta) right so I have to position the pad to take care of any sideways leaks.
- I use an extra absorbent pad from Canadian Shoppers Drug Mart ( the USA versions will have their own brand names) - it does not look like you are wearing anything under your dark pants ( forget about beige pants until you are continent) - other than having a better sized "package" down there.
-keep in mind, you are still in the healing mode and don't beat yourself up if you leak - it takes time -
-do have some zinc oxide ( diaper rash cream) available in case you are initially a heavy leaker - you don't want a water-logged wet willy -
-take care - it does get better...

I agree, no way normal loose style boxers would hold pads in, perhaps some of those boxer shorts?

i wore only briefs my entire life until I had my open RP. Been on boxers ever since, due to all the catheters and the urostomy I now sport. Briefs would interfere with my collection bags. It sucks! I hate wearing boxers, but will have to for the rest of my llife. Yes, PC can find even tiny ways ot make your life miserable, lol.

Awesome, thanks for all the quick replies. That confirms what I suspected. I've done briefs all my life and had to have my wife run out and buy some boxers as I could not figure out how to make this catheter work comfortably otherwise. I'll go back to the tried and true tomorrow, bringing some with me for after the appointment. Looking forward to getting this hose out ...

I compromised and switched from boxers to boxer briefs. Did the trick for me.

Here's my two bob's worth:

I made my husband a type of belt of wide elastic (not too tight around the waist)  and just used a large safety pins (like nappy pins)  to hold the pad in place front and back.  Easy to undo the front to go to the toilet and absolutely no risk of pad slipping, or getting displaced. Sometimes he just moved the pad slightly to the side when going to the loo.   When soiled, just attach another one.   

Worked an absolute treat, he felt confident that it wouldn't slip or leak sideways etc.,  and it didn't matter what kind of shorts/briefs/boxers he wore.

I did try the stick on velcro dots for a short while, but these were a nuisance, and cost too much.
