I am looking for what this forum is ideal for - anonymity and support.
After 4 years of battling increasingly severe ED (it was never good, but after-effects of the radiation has continually made it worse), I have decided to go the penile prosthesis / implant route. I am scheduled for a little over a week from now, March 27. This is something that I have shared with very few people I know. I am accustomed to a lot of folks praying for me if I have a surgery, but this is something that I don't want to get a prayer list together for (obviously).
Selection of a surgeon was a big deal - I was prepared to go out of plan (HMO) and pay a lot out of pocket to get a seasoned expert (tap the 401k). Fortunately, I got a very good sense from an in-plan surgeon, who has been doing these surgeries for a couple of decades, and is presently doing 1-2/month. Although that frequency is on the low side of what I was hoping for, I am convinced that he will do a good job (and relieved that it will not be a huge monetary drain). I am dealing with peyronie's, which is one reason why I am not OK with continuing the injections (bimix works, but I am on an increasingly strong dosage). The peyronie's makes things so distracting as to make intercourse unenjoyable. I also hate the non-spontaneity of injections - I am hopeful that this will be worth the pain and recovery involved in the surgery.
I am of course concerned about
the surgery - infection would be very bad, and there are a number of other things that can go wrong.
Obviously, I have decided that the end result is worth the risk. I would welcome any of you that have been through this to share here.
If you are so inclined, would you be willing to pray for me? I am a big proponent of the power of prayer.
Thanks, Jeff
