Anybody passed sutures (stitches)?

Three weeks out from RARP, 4 days ago started having occasional bloody urine and passing small clots. Uro's nurse says normal if no fever as long as I can pee. (scabs sloughing off a normal part of healing process). Tonight when cleaning shower after I had showered, my wife found a 1 1/4 in long suture which I must have passed.

So, has anyone else experienced this?

I wonder how long to expect to be passing clots?

It seemed like I passes clots for about four weeks after my RRP. My urine color was mainly red but I was advised it would last 3-6 six weeks. After week four, it really started to improve with less and then less blood. Then eventually it went back to the normal color. Can't say I ever looked close enough to see if there were any sutures. There may have been but I would have to go out to the solid waste landfill with a microscope, gas mask, and a little vicks under my nose. So I will pass on that and just assume I passed a few of those as well as having some of them just dissolve.

Sounds like you are making great progress. Three weeks out is great. your energy will just continue to increase. Keep up the walking and get as many naps in as you can. It takes a long time for the body to recover and heal from such a violent procedure.

Yes, I passed "debris" with urine for almost three months. A few bits of what I thought was suture material as well, but none of the length you mention (1/4 inch would have been the largest).

The longer pieces for me actually came out through the skin in the areas around the incisions. I had large suture material (the surgeon identified it as what is used on the internal muscle layer) that would pop out like a bristle, then work its way out. That could easily explain the length in your case.

As always, ask your surgeon if you are concerned.

Passed another small one today (about 1/4 inch). Plus some more small clots. Not worried unless I get stopped up or get a fever.

Went back to work today. Did well till about 3 PM then began to feel really tired and by 4:30 was leaking, not much but more than I have been. Tired muscles I guess. Needlessly to say I am horizontal right now. It's my birthday but didn't feel like going out

I recall a 1/2-3/4 inch piece of suture material that suddenly appeared. I don't recall how long it was after surgery though.

Yes, as far as I can remember (nearly 3 years out ) I had debris for a couple of weeks, but no blood. I did have a UTI which was treated with 3 weeks of antibiotics, and the urine sample they had was full of tiny bits and pieces.
