Hi.
I appreciate each and every comment I have received on this board. Whenever I have a new development, it puts me into a tailspin. Panic, I guess, but eventually it subsides to a level that allows me to restart the stalled engine and my spirit and vigor returns. Not to optimal levels, of course, as I am always harboring some amount of anticipatory dread.
I was fitted for the radiation machine but the team said I have to wait 1 to 2 weeks before the MRI is reviewed, the machine calculated, and the scheduling completed before I start treatment. For my efforts I received radiation's pre-medal of honor: 3 strategically placed tattoos on my abdomen. Yay (sigh).
I briefly met with my doctor, although he seemed harried and surprised I had more questions. He said I have a 70 percent chance of cure or better (“if the cancer is there, there's a high percentage of a cure”), a little more realistic than 2 months ago when he told me he was confident of full containment. Of course I am taking into account on a prior visit his comment that cells could have escaped due to the fully focal tumor and being diagnosed within a whisper of stage 3. I doubt his latest stat is anywhere near what to expect as it appears he is covering his bases, but I'm now aware that biases need to be calculated into the equation as well.
