Swelling and bruising in the scrotum and penis after robotic prostate removal.

Svelte - Are you drinking a ton of water? Drinking a lot of water was really a great relief for me as soon as I took catheter out. The flow got stronger with every "pee" and my bladder learned to retain more and more urine on a daily basis. The key to it in my opinion was the sheer volume of water I drank.

Thanks guys, I know it will take time but I'm certain I will be fine very soon. All that you are nice enough to share with me is going to be so beneficial.

The flow is very strong when I can get to the restroom, but I have to hold the tip of my Johnson to keep it from just flowing out onto the floor, once I let it go it's Niagra Falls.

Today is the first time I've been able to at least hold my urine without it just flowing out before I could get to the toilet, I believe things are beginning to get better. I just need to be near a toilet when its time to go. Kcprgal, I had the same problems and my doctor said to elevate the scrotum with a towel, I did that and put pillows under my legs at night and the swelling went down overnight.

First off, I think it's great that Googling "scrotum swollen after robotic prostatectomy" brought me directly to this thread. I'd already joined the forum when I was diagnosed in February, and was pleased to find this thread just now.

My robotic Sx was 9 days ago. Catheter came out on day 7 (2 days ago), and was not unhappy to see that go. I stayed home pretty much, and instead of the leg bag used the big bag, which I carried around the house in a bucket with a handle. I felt like I was tethered to one spot by a leash only a few feet long, 'cause it was such a pain to pick that bucket up I'd plan where to drop the bucket so everything I'd need would be within a circle with a radius the length of that catheter tube.

But to get to the scrotum issue: Yeah. Ouch. And "gasp" too. Thanks to whomever suggested the towel under the scrotum trick. I'll try that out tonight.

I was at the doc yesterday (because of excruciating rectal spasms--grist for a different thread) and remarked about the swollen scrotum. He said "It doesn't look that swollen," and my response was "You must think I have a really big set of balls." <sigh>

I read through the thread, but it's unclear what the experience has been as to how long before the swelling goes down. Right now, all things considered, I'd say that the swollen scrotum is my major complaint.

Scrotum swelled to fist size four days after surgery. Should I continue to walk? I was walking a couple of hours a day, but now it's slightly uncomfortable with all the rubbing on my legs. I waddle more than walk now. I want to continue walking. Any reason to not?
