Yes, I was the king of strictures, for the first 2 years after my open RP. Mine were always at the bladder neck. Had the scope a few times at the uro's office, none were fun for me, one was an emercency dialation, which was a terrible experience. The other strictures required a day surgery to re-open things. Each time he went into me, he warned that it was possible that it could leave me incontinent. Fortunately, that never happened, because even with the surgeries related to strictures, I would find a new way each time to get totally blocked up again, once in less than a months time. So I had the opposite problem that most men encountered.
You should be ok if the doctor is real careful, and it depends what he finds, a minor blockage is easy enough to remedy, with dialation rods. Make sure he uses an ample amount of lydacaine gel, and most important - make sure they wait at least 10-15 minutes to allow it to number properly. You will feel pressure as the scope goes in, and it is creepy if you allow you mind to think about what is going on, pays not to watch, I usually kept my eyes closed.
If it requires more than a look or a simple dialation, I would strongly opt to be knocked out and have it surgically corrected. Most of those ops I had lasted 10-20 minutes once I was under. You shouldn't need all that, unless its a severe stricture in place.
Good luck, I will be looking for some followup from you, hope you are on the "easy" side of this issue. For some of us men, strictures can be a serious and chronic condition. Now that my bladder has been by-passed with an urostomy, there is no chance I will ever have to go through that again, as I no longer urinate through my penis.
