Here's a third option. It's a 21st century procedure that is far less invasive and if you qualify for it will leave you a working prostate although smaller than original. The only side effect as far as my case went, a 60% loss of ejacualnt. The only problem is you need to first undergo a saturation biopsy and travel to Denver for that and the TFT procedure both which requires sedation. But it's another option and the two of us who have undergone it here remain the most successfully treated on this site for low risk Pca.

NOOOooo!!! Not another option!!! (Running away, screaming)
Thanks... I will look into it. From the little I have read so far at the link that you provided it sounds similar to the laser treatment that i am looking into at Mayo.
This is from the pdf at the site linked above...
"During this treatment, light-sensitive chemicals accumulate
in cancerous tissue. When exposed to light from optical
fibers inserted into the prostate through hollow needles,
the chemicals release toxic substances that destroy tumors
(inset). Doctors monitor the procedure using transrectal
ultrasound."
In the descript
ion I found of the Mayo procedure they also use a light sensitive chemical but then use a laser to destroy the "marked" cells.
My Doctor has recently used a laser in TFT too. Most TFT like mine were done using cryosurgery. The TFT is the big thing laser or cryo is just the means to deliver it. Good luck. http://prostatecancerinfolink.net/2009/10/28/mri-guided-targeted-laser-prostate-cancer-surgery/
