Urethral Burning

Anybody else get this...Any number of body positions can bring on urethral burning that usually stays with me all day once it starts and often changes to and "aching" pain. For example, this AM I was sitting in a chair and I just sat up straight, kind of arched my back and felt a shape sting in the urethra.  It's happened when I'm doing stretching exercises, like holding my hands together and lifting them above my head (which I guess involves the same muscles).  I have Pyridium and take it 3 times a day (200 mg.) but it usually doesn't help much.  I'm thinking it may just be a post surgery side effect that will eventually abate. When I discussit with my surgeon he just shakes his head snad doesn't really offer any answers.  I also have some "tingly" nerve type pain in the pelvic/penile area...seeing a pain management doc who has me on gabapentin.  I've just worke my way up to 1200 mg. a day and this is the 3rd day I've been on that dosage.  It seemes to be helping woith the "tingly" pelvic pain but I don't ecxpect to help the urethral pain which I'm sure is inflammation.  My uro mentioned dong a cysto hydro, DMSO bladder distention, but when I read about that procedure I passed on that one.  He thinks I could have interstitial cystitis, which I don't think is likely since I didn't have this proble before the surgery.  Didn't mean to go on for so long, but it seems like I always do!  Just wondering if anybody else had experienced this urethral burning and how you are dealing with it.  thanks in advance for any assistance.  Fred   

sorry you are experience this, i know how it feels literally.

my standard advice, ask your doctor for some pyridium. its a very cheap generic drug, they often give samples. it will take the burning away after just a couple of doses. the only real side effect, it leaves an intense orange stain in your urine. and if you dribble or such, will stain your underwear, though it will come out in the wash. i don't know this first hand, but been told that pyridium for some people, will stain their contact lens via the tear ducts. but, it really would help your situation.

I can tell you first hand, they have a good community there as well. i don't post there as often, but i have picked up some good tips and advice from my fellow pain sufferers. there are folks there with really tough stories, that make my situation look tame. if you please, go visit, and introduce yourself there, they will more than willing to greet you properly.

Thanks for this thread, I thought it was just me. I still have the Urethra pain at times also. Its not real bothersome as much as I was just concerned about it. It just comes and goes as it wants.
