Still in the club!

Hi everyone

Received my 9 month post-op PSA test results today........<0.01

It was a bit of a relief, as for some reason I was more worried about this one than the previous ones. I feel in some way like a gambler on a winning streak....the stakes get raised with each win and the odds of losing grow ever larger!

Can I ask my contemporaries (guys who have had surgery in the last year or so) how do you feel with each test result? Do you feel more relaxed as time goes on, or more apprehensive? Don't get me wrong, I'm over the moon with my progress so far and feel very fortunate when compared to some of my brothers on this forum, but this PSA anxiety is a problem for me.

Congrats on the zero.

My second post op PSA test is later in May. And no, I'm not too worried. The SE's are still weighing heavily on my mind, but I have convinced myself that I am Cancer-Free, and am just waiting for the test to confirm it.

I have my one year post-op check in June and I feel confident about it (but ask me again in late May)

That is really great news to hear, so very happy for you.

On the PSA anxiety part, I have none-zip-zero, ever. I can tell you when it changed for me, I lost all fear and anxiety about my PSA numbers, right after my surgery and my SRT failed fast. Every since then, its just become a minor chore to get tested, and I never have a concern about the number itself. Right now, sitting with a post-SRT PSA of 37 and rising fast, I still feel nothing in particular. Guess each of us deals with things differently, and how we process them in our minds.

Ozbob - congrats on the zero club membership - anxiety is a bother, ain't it !?

-try to setup more non-cancer days - right now you are in control of it rather than it in control of you - try to keep that in mind when the next PSA test comes up - put the date on the calendar and let the calendar deal with it - that has helped me in my pre-test anxiety - by putting it out in the open and not keeping it inside my head.

-keep up the goodwork.
