My research prior to surgery warned me and I was hoping for the best. But the 3 surgeons definately skipped over this part during their pitches. I am wondering how many in this thread are single like me? And how are you dealing with it. It may be a small loss, but in my mind its a mile lost. The only good thing about being single and alone, is I dont have to hide the fact, that I am constantly cleaning the darn toilet. I'm another hampster also, lol.

I am sure I lost at least 1 in and I was not very long to begin with :-(

I am single and trying to connect with a partner and do wonder how I will deal with this, I am sure it is just a "Guy" thing. Sometimes my buddy almost disapears because he is so short these days. I have been using Trimix and that helps me see that I still have a chance :-)

What it boils down to is, that if you were hung like a bull a half inch or an inch is no big deal to lose. If you are hung like us hamsters that's a major deal to lose. smhair

Post up how it goes Curt. I had a lady over about a month ago and I confided in her about my PCa and so on. I think it killed the deal and she left as graciously as she could. Never heard from her again. Then, last week I had another lady over and I chickened out. She thought I was the perfect gentleman...
And I havent heard back from her either.
999,998 more to go I guess.

it's impressive that you can get two ladies to come on over. When the right ones comes around you'll hear back from her.

I will let you know how it goes.

I am now divorced from my wife who was 22 years younger than me, we were married for 8 years. Last summer, she pulled the plug on our marraige and I think it was mainly because she was scared of my cancer issues.

I have not yet bet intimate with anyone since my RP :-(  I will need an understanding women that can look past all this. I will be able to perform, Trimix is awesome !!!! A women having sex with a guy that can have a 2 hr really hard woody is something that I would think most women would love to experience if they are into sex at all.

I am really, really horny !! my RP seems to not have effected that at all :-)   Maybe a trip to Nevada is in order !!!!......................

A friend of mine has an even worse story. He had RALP and lost both nerves and is single. He then moves into a condo full of 40 something divorces. He thought he would be a god among then with the use of injections and 1 hour or more erections, but the thought of injections sent them packing as quick as they could. smhair

My thought is to jump into bed with a nice lady, get her nice and juicy, tease, tease, tease, excuse myself for a minute then go for the Trimix without even talking about it. It only takes me a few minutes before I start getting a reaction and then if I have a nice naked female next to me :-) :-), I think that will even move things along even faster. Then 2 hrs later when I am still hard, she will think she is really, really hot to keep my attention that long !!! :-) Sounds like a "Win-Win" to me......

Just my thoughts, what do you think ??

At this time, definitely down more than an inch flaccid and about the same at the ready state. I was having mixed recovery in that regard and am now 3 years out (almost to the day) from surgery.

ED doc said most shrinkage probably due to atrophy due to loss of natural nocturnals after surgery. Didn't start trimix until 9 months post-op.

Myth, I don't believe so. Big printed poster at the elevator beside the prostate clinic where they do ED therapy..."why is my penis smaller after surgery...?".

I can offer a personal observation...when I was in periods of strong workouts, I felt good and probably had better cardio-fitness than I do at this time. There was a significant correlation. But, that's just IMO.

My first erections were just five days post op and the cath was still in. They were nothing to write home about but

I was thrilled to have one. Now after four years, I see no difference in size flacid or erect than pre op. I also needed constant manipulation to stay hard, but now "mr. happy" tongue stays at attention. I think the key is good blood flow to 'stretch" it back into shape.

Very similar to my experience. Hardly scientific, but the more I read about this the more it seems that Shrinkage is mostly a case when there is ED after surgery.

i thought they did. MY urologist did and my surgeon not only did but he has an entire team dedicated to helping with rehab and tracking it. I think that's very common.

I am not so sure about that, seems like a lot of surprised guy's out there including me that maybe could have had a better outcome if they were educated and proactive about this problem.

maybe some docs are uncomfortable speaking about such things. They are very strange conversations after all. Took me a lot of time to get used to the nurse asking me if I was wanking off on a regular basis like a good little boy. And then me giving her a description of all the mechanics involved and her giving advice etc. I can imagine many men freezing up at having such conversations.

Mine stated that ED was a high probability, but never mentioned shrinkage.

8 week Psa 0.01 16 week Psa 0.06

I haven't measured to compare pre- and post- op erections (27 months post Da Vinci now) but am certain that I'm an inch shorter than I used to be. I fully buy into the spliced urethra theory that several posts upthread have mentioned. When I got my first real erection (Caverject 12 months post-op) I found it painful - it felt exactly as if the glans was being pulled back by a too-short urethra. It took me until 24 months post-op to be able to get full erections reliably on demand without medical assistance. I still get that pain, but not so intense. Also noticeable (at least by me - my wife claims not to see it) is a distinct kinking when erect.

I was kind of expecting the shortening effect from what I'd read here pre-op. I learnt at least as much here as I did from all the medical people I saw.

And it's only from reading this thread that I've learnt of the possibility of the bladder extending into the 'vacuum' left by the prostate with the possible prospect of the strain on the urethra being relieved. I'm really hoping this comes good.

I remember some 10 or 20 years ago, hearing about an operation wherein the roots or attachment of the penis were cut loose and the penis yanked forward somewhat and sewed in place, making it longer.

Apparently the procedure was not popular, as ihave heard nothing since.
