Hi David, this reminds me of being sick for 2 months while being pregnant, lost 15lb, hospital, food through the IV...what did I do 3 and 6 years later? Got pregnant again, and went through similar miserable experiences. Human spirit is really hard to beat. Your body will heal eventually. It really is too much for one soul, but with the proper medical and moral support, you will come out a winner.

Hi David,

I've had hopes for a better outcome with the meeting with your Dr. Your load just doesn't seem to get lighter with time. I'm keeping my fingers x-d for a no 'C' in your bladder.

terry - i don't view my journey as being crapped on, kind of a "it rains on the just and unjust alike" type of mindset here. just hard to believe, that at every juncture, there has to be a new problem, new setback, etc. you would think that at some point, things would be "norma" - whatever that means, or at least go by the book.

henry - i think we are all fighters here at HW, the will to live and the will to tough out things - is amazing to watch sometimes, as i told a friend who said innocently, why don't you just give up? i say, give up to what? what is the alternative? lol.

special lady, thanks too. i am not expecting to heal up, that's not a reasonable goal at this point, outside of a miracle, but i am learning as usual, to adapt to my new circumstances and realities. its all about mental adjustments, and being willing to accept the parts that can't be changed. i never feel bitter or deeply depressed, because i know that things could still be far worse for me, so i tend to be thankful for what i do have, as opposed to what i no longer have. it helps me to keep my mind balanced that way

clock, i am hardly a job, but thanks. i see myself quite clearly. just another everyday joe that had the misfortune of getting diagnosed with PC, nothing special there. many of my setbacks and side effects, etc, have been due to a series of quirks and anatomy issues uniqe to myself, i.e., this business of having an unusally deep and narrow prostate bed, my body's way of constantly over-scarring when hurt, some of my sensitivities to meds, etc.

patience, i have, and it has been known to annoy people over the years. back when i was in the early computer days (1980s) and doing serious programming in both Assembler and Cobol, i would have to make changes to the same piece of code over and over again, as much as 25 times. others watching, would grumble about how they could never do that, they didn't have the patience to keep repeating things. i find the same approach in life in general, getting mad about a problem never helps to solve it.

with all this medical stuff, all i can do, is try, and try again. therre is no perfect and easy solution. i simply do the best i can on a given day, and then move on to the next day.

David, I'm still  "officially" new here, but have been following your journey as a lurker for a long time. I will think very positive thoughts for your upcoming tests/procedure.You have more than " paid your dues"  with everything you have dealt with... While my journey has had some major difficulties, yours has been what all of fear could happen...sort of a medical Murphy's Law.... I don't know how you have done it, the grace and courage you have shown is an inspiration to me . Keep up the good fight.

David, It seems that the hits keep on coming even after all the problems you had. I sure hope that this doesn't turn out to be a long ordeal and that the exploratory surgery goes well without complications.

Same here, Ed. Either, this is going to be the start of another very horrible experience, or else, after a little discomfort, I will get the "all clear for now" signal on my damaged bladder. My one doctor feels its only a question of time until my bladder shows a more serious problem. My uro said, the last time he was able to look inside, which would have been about October of 2010, my bladder looked like a war zone inside. He said all the walls were heavily scarred from the radiation, and everything looked raw. Trust me, it felt as raw as he dscribed, I can still remember those horrific days as if it were yesterday. Traumatized to this day from what I had to endure. So hope I am not about to step into another bad situation. Got to find the inner strength to endure what lays ahead.

I'm so sorry that you will be going through another procedure. I will pray that you will be cancer free. You will get the break you deserve. Even though its tough during these difficult times, just have faith.

The 9th operation! I didn't know there were so many since the RP, I thought that it was just the one for the stoma.

So sorry that you are having to go through yet another medical procedure involving another type of cancer. After the rare cancer you had and then the bad PCa experience it is beyond unfair.

David, you know that we are all with you in our thoughts and we are hoping for the best. I hope that the results of the procedure proves conclusively that it is not bladder cancer.

An, thank you for the kind words. As you can see, the fun for me continues. I never get a chance to become bored in my journey.

The thought of having another catheter after all this time still traumatizes me. I can't imagine waking up in recovery, and finding that thing dangling between my legs. Not after living with 21 of them before. It will be only for a few days to a week, but still, I find it very upsetting. When the stoma surgery was done, I was told I would never have to worry about having a catheter again.

Part of me is wishing just to cancel this next step, and simply see how I can push my luck.

David, my friend...I was hoping for better news this time around.  I am so sorry to hear you may now have bladder cancer.  You are in our thoughts and prayers, as always.  May you be guided to make the right decision regarding the surgery.  (It sounds like you will have it done.)  I do recall your previous experience with the Foley.

Last year, I asked you if you were going to write a book about your Journey and you said no.  However, I was wondering if you have kept a journal of your posts in reference to this kind of information?

Also, I was speaking to Kathy (post above) and told her about your television interview.  I cannot find it, but maybe some of our newer members might be interested in what you discussed.  Also, we get the opportunity to put a face with your posts.  If you recall, I said you looked like a kind college professor. :-)   Hang in there, David!

Gee David, fair crack of the whip. I disappear for a while and come back only to find that you're under the gun yet again. I thought of you often during my self imposed exile (I decided put all things PCa out of my mind for a few months) and was hoping to see you faring well on my return. Know that I will be thinking of you and wishing for the very best through this next procedure.

billy, my friend, i have missed you a lot here, and on chat nights. i have often wondered what happened to my fave oz mate. hope you are doing well.

as you can see, my twisted journey continues on, why should it be any different now, lol. its always one thing after the next. i am sure i will get through this next step as well, and can only hope that there is no evidence of any secondary cancer in that area. when i re-coop from that, they want to investigate the colon area, as i have never had a colonoscopy, and now my doctors feel there is too much radiation damage to safely do one in the normal manner, but consider me at high risk for cancer in the colon. they may do a virtual colonosocpy, but my uro said in his experience, the results are often sketchy at best, and still require a followup with a physical one to be safe. sounds like a no win situation there, as i don't want to be damaged in that area, as the result of a test, but on the other hand, it would be bad to have an undected cancer having its time with me.

Good grief, I have only just noticed that I have not been on the forum since early March. Initially I reorganized all my phone services and internet. I decided to hold off reconnecting the new internet service for a bit. In the meantime my laptop went to wherever good laptops go when they die. Then I thought I'll have a rest from all things PCa till the end of June but 142 emailed me mentioning a fellow Australian was looking for local info. So here I am and very pleased to be back among the brethren (and their wives). I have much catching up to do.

I am so sorry to hear about your new cancer scare and the difficult operation you may face. It is hard to understand why bad things do keep happening to good people. I have thought about that many times during the past four years with my husband, and now he is presented with this. I am new to this site, but from the other posts it would appear that you have had a very traumatic journey with your PC. I am glad that you do have faith to pull on for support, because like you, I do believe there is a bigger picture. Unfortunately, it doesn't take away the worry and stress when the challenges are happening. I will pray for a good outcome from your surgery and that the future will be brighter for you.

good point Picco...Cancer does not discriminate. Good or bad people it just happens. I have 3 sisters who are heavy smokers, drink lots of alcohol and have poor eating habits and they are all as healthy as a horse. Yet I have another sister (youngest one) who was into sports, ate excellent never smoked or even drank coffee let alone alcohol and she passed away with breast cancer. Go figure...Thats why I think it was just meant to happen.

David, sorry to hear of your current issues...all I can say is good luck, hang in there as I know you will and keep figthing. We are all in your corner and hope for the best., chris

picco, thank you for your thoughtful words, appeciate them. i don't ever take any of this personal, as it truly rains on the just and unjust alike, so i don't feel like i have been picked out to be tormented, lol. one always has to deal with the cards that life deals them. accepting them, makes it easier to deal with all the blows that come along.

casper, thanks too. my mother good example of that theory - 85 years old, been smoking heavy for over 65 years (still does), eats terrible, drinks, guzzles coffee endlessly - yet she's the picture of health for someone her age.
