Well Bruce, the gang here has given you a fine welcome and pointed you in the right direction as you start your journey! Hopefully, it will be a short one that ends with a negative biopsy...It would not hurt to pick up a copy of Dr. Patrick Walsh's book "Surviving Prostate Cancer" and learn all you need to know about this "little problem"..The book will give you the foundation you need to make intelligent choices should the biopsy deliver bad news...Take solace in knowing that most men diagnosed with prostate cancer live to die from something else..It's just a little bump in the road..

Bruce,  hope you will return and bring us up-to-date.  My advice is to do the Kegels exercise for your pelvic floor.  Even if you don't have surgery, it will be helpful!  Wishing you the best!

Bruce, a belated but sincere welcome. You've a ton of great advice above. Even if you just read the two posts above, from Susan and Bud, you've got a wealth of wisdom.

I'll be looking forward to hearing the results of your biopsy.

Your concerns are similar to what mine were. I was terrified that even if I beat the cancer, my active lifestyle would be gone forever. I assure you that I do everything now that I did before. I mean everything, and I do it with even more vigor. That includes fishing, hunting, motorcycles, weight training, sex, fishing, and did I mention fishing?
In reality, there are numerous effective treatments that will give you an extremely high likelihood of dying as an old man. Knowing that, I was more fearful of potential side effects, and did my research with that in mind.
Best of luck to you, man. Hopefully, you won't need any treatment at all.

I am a little late in this thread but  you need torelax until you have the biopsy results  back. There is nothing you can do now about this so why send any time needlessly worrying.  You either will have PC or you will not. If you do have PC there are so many courses of treatment that can provide you with a long life and positive outlook. I was diagnosed last year on my 61st birthday and had robotic surgery early June and was 100% continent by July 4th last year and have been since. I like you was much more concerned about being dry than the ED issues as I knew my best sexual years were behind my wife and I. I will not lie a year after surgery I have serious ED and use injections for erections and sex.  However, I feel so much better now than before my diagnosis and I realized I suffered for years with a prostate that made peeing very difficult and I NOW pee like a teenager again. After you get your biopsy results back I hope you will post again here as there are so many here who will help you through the decision process on choosing the treatments all based on our individual experiences and PC journeys.

Just remember that you ejaculation will be bloody after the biopsy!

Don't condemn your self just yet I was diagnosed with PC just before my 50th birthday. I had a few problems after surgery but gradually I improved. 2 months post surgery I was having sex. a year later I was dry no pad. I have a wife that is 14 1/2 years younger than me and as far as I know she is happy with our sex life. It's not the same as it was 2 years ago but it's still good. I can still do anything physically that I could 2 years ago. I have no plans on dieing any time soon. I travel and enjoy my bourbon and my work.
