PSA plummets 85%

Finally we caught a little break. We started a clinical trial three weeks ago on 7/31/12 with a PSA of 41.9. Today's PSA was 6.3.
As you can imagine we are quite happy. There have been SE's but they are tolerable.

Tomorrow he receives his second dose. Hope and pray it continues.

Wow, that sounds fantastic! Congratulations! Now let's hope that it stays there or perhaps gets even lower.

Zimac - congrats on the low numbers - here's to "going for the low"
-if possible , could you remind us what the clinical trial was using? - it can help give hope to others in similar situation.

Yay! So GLAD to read this this morning! You have been in my thoughts and I was concerned about no news. BUT this is grand!
Zimac will fill in on the details but her husband is on a monoclonal antibody therapy, very new in trial. But wow effective!

Plummeting PSA's are always a joy to hear about. May they continue on the downward trend and the side effects remain tolerable. Take care of yourself also.

Thanks everyone for all the well wishes. I hope the beast was as shocked as we were.

The study my husband is on is quite new. He is actually on the higher end of the dosing study.

DSTP3086S is an antibody bound to a chemotherapy drug. The antibody targets prostate cancer cells, and delivers the anticancer drug directly to those cells to kill them. This is how it was described to us.

It is also called the Steap trial. His Onc. seems to think that my husband carries this steap gene. A specimen from his tumor was sent out for genetic analysis but takes weeks before results. We should have more info then. No guarantees with the results from the bx specimen, but life has no guarantees anyway, except one.
