Possible Email hacking on HW

One of our better know members on HW just sent me an email saying he had received today an email from me with a link to some get rich quick scheme website. He suspects that the HW site might have been hacked as his email address is not in my contacts phone book so it is doubtful it was my computer that was hacked. Has any one else gotten any suspicious emails from me today?

do you use yahoo or AOL e-mail?  if so you might want to change your password.

Terry - I for example have you in my contacts on my home computer. If for example, my pc was compromised - the spoofer/hacker could have sent the email based off the info they stole.

Almost all email apps have an option in the account settings called "Reply Address."

In the good old days, people would put FBI.com to mess with peoples head.

Yes, I have had similar of late and thanks for the heads up as the emails from "friends" linking to spam all with a different return address.

Now that I think about it, this only stated for me after I signed up here on HW...sounds like something the MODS could look into for everyone.

So far the only case of the phony email was with the one HW member. I talked with Mod 142 yesterday about this (comment removed -142). There is not much that can be done in this case because this type action creates no noticeable alarms.

i'd change my password anyway.  getting hacked is real common these days and hardly worth mentioning except to the people who receive the bogus e-mails.
