Today's the day

Hubby is scheduled for his DaVinci surgery at 1:45 this afternoon.  I woke up every hour or so last night.  I'm trying to let him sleep this morning.  Not being able to eat is one thing, but not being able to even drink something is really hard.  We leave for the hospital in a couple of hours.  Yesterday seemed like it would last forever. 

Worriedabouthubby,your husband will be fine through surgery.I hope you have someone to keep you company while you wait for the surgery to be completed.For me it went really quick since I slept through the whole ordeal but for my wife it seemed to take forever.
Also they had a clown in the waiting room to keep people entertained;)

Good luck, see ya on the other side, and remember the mantra- as soon as posible- walk water, walk, water, increasing each as able in length and episodes. Things will be just fine....

Good luck today!!! Waiting is the WORST..I remember surgery day like it was yesterday...SO glad it's behind us and you will be too..In a few hours you will be with your husband in his room.I was AMAZED how good hubby was after he woke up a bit..he even ate good that evening..Be sure to post any questions over the next few days if you need too..I have friends in the medical field so I called them if I had too..it helps...be strong and keep us posted on how he is doing. We are all here for you!

Well, he's out of surgery and everything went ok. He's resting now and I came home to try and get some sleep. Will go back tomorrow morning. Thanks for all the hugs and prayers and support. Won't really know more until next Wednesday when the cath comes out and we get the path report.

Glad to hear things went ok. Get some rest as you'll need some energy for tomorrow.

Glad to hear he and you are on the other side. Take it a day at a time. Do what needs doing today, celebrate each day's gains and next thing you know, the progress will be evident. For now, rest and know you both have prayers offered for you.

So happy to hear he is out of surgery and doing well. Do not worry about the pathology it will be what it is and no amount of worry will change things.

When you bring him home today find the LEAST BUMPY roads you can. I live 4 miles from my hospital and I felt EVERY bump in the road when my wife brought me home. It was the only time post surgery that I felt any real pain.  Follow what others have said water walk, walk water, walk. The more I walked the better I felt every day. Get him off the prescription pain meds ASAP. I did not take any after I left the hospital, only used Advil. The scrip pain meds will leave him very constipated and believe me he will not want that for the first few days. I hope your doctor suggested he start taking a stool softener (not a laxative) for the constipation, mine did and it was one of the best things he told me.

Hubby had a rough day.  Lots of nausea and some vomiting.  Supper seems to be 'sitting' better- hopefully it will stay down.  He wasn't able to walk until very late this afternoon due to the nausea.  Still not passing gas or having a BM- can't go home unitl that happens and he walks more.  Doc had said maybe Thursday- but I"m not to confident in that.  This evening he's also got a low grade fever.  I'm home for the night.  More tomorrow.
