I agree with you this is a relevant thread about buying drugs outside the US. I saw a report a while back on Fox News about the very same company that Dr Meyers talks about in the video. Not only have there been reports of fake ED drugs but drugs used for fighting prostate and breast cancer have been found to be fake or watered down so much they are ineffective.

I was getting mine in India (not via mail). It's the same drugs sold in Germany and Canada and are perfectly legit.

I'm sure their are some fakes out there, and I'm sure some overstate this possible angle for self interest.

..and from another Canadian - I have had solicitation (telephone and emails) from drug companies with CANADA in their name and they are not related to "the true north strong and free" at all... just like tourists who wear maple leafs on their clothes when they travel....

- we have used the sister company in India that used to ship to Canada - and dealing with what the drugs are for - all results are in line with the Canadian Drug Store brands - all happy numbers for the last three years... ( this is not a blanket statement endorsing any company or source of material).

The patent was extended, to something like 2017 or beyond. So no generics as long as a dollar can be squeezed out...

Pfizer has several patents for Sildenafil. All but one expire next year. They had developed the drug for other uses and discovered later that it worked on ED, so that patent came later than the others and lasts longer. The patent on Sildenafil when used to treat ED (Viagra) runs to 2019 and was recently upheld in court when it was challenged by Teva Pharmaceuticals (an Israeli company that makes generics). There is a possibility that generic Sildenafil will be available soon to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension (Phizer's brand name Revatio) because that patent is running out. If that happens it will probably put some downward pressure on Phizer's price for Viagra since they will be competing with off-label use of the generic Revatio.

The article only involved one drug, Avastin, and one group of wrongdoers who were exposed..Condemning an entire industry based on one incident involving one drug is overkill..

Something closer to home, the brand name drug Casodex ($$$$$) is available as a generic ($$$$) Bicalutamide. This generic drug is available from a well known Indian online pharmacy for a fraction of U.S. prices. It's made by Cipla, a pioneering pharmaceutical company who challenged the U.S. makers of the three anti-viral drugs used to treat HIV/aids to lower their prices so more people could be treated, primarily in Africa. These efforts failed..Cipla then developed a single pill containing its own generic versions of the three drugs to be taken one pill a day. The cost was about $1/pill a figure that put the life-saving drugs within reach of millions of HIV victims who faced certain death otherwise. The "injured" U.S. drug companies threatened huge lawsuits against Cipla but were convinced that would not be in their best interests..

One way legitimate drug manufacturers like Cipla protect their products from counterfeiting is the packaging..Counterfeiters have a hard time duplicating the foil/plastic/sealed bubble packs with each pill in it's own little sealed package..When you purchase these drugs from a reputable pharmacy, there is little chance you are being victimized...Whether or not it's LEGAL to do this, that's another issue entirely..
