Hi all.... I posted on old thread, but will put this out as new topic. Been on flomax for about 5 yrs, for bph. Recently, had robotic prostate surgery , Gleason 6. Cathetor out after a week. Next day, could not pee, went back on flomax, have been ok since then, little over a week. Should I stay on it, slowly try to get off?? Thx john

I believe Flomax acts on the prostate, so I'm curious as to how it would help if you don't have a prostate. I was on it for a year after my seed procedure and just recently went off of it cold turkey. I did not have any problems. Others have weened themselves off of it.

I took the 4mg and had to increase it to 8mg after some hernia surgery for a couple of days. It's kind of scary to go off as I had visions of going to the ER for a cath and taking it did not (for me) have any SE.

What does your urologist say?

Have call in to surgeon....think they want me to ease off it....but I need a plan, cut dose in half? For how long, etc. ? Went to hospital back in April for retention, infection, was there 2 nights, much more painful than robotic surgery, etc... Don't want a repeat, I'm told it also works on relaxing bladder neck as well as prostate.
