The best answer - is to ask your surgeon or urologist Did you have open or robotic surgery? you didn't specifiy. and i am assuming you are without catheter at this point?

are you having any natural "wood" at this point, or are you hoping you do? 3 weeks is pretty soon, but it sure varies from patient to patient. regardless of the surgery method, you just went through a complex surgery, with all kinds of internal sutures and micro stiching. that is why i suggest you get the ok from your surgeon.

i can understand your eagerness to see if you still work down there, but you wouldnt want to rush matters and end up damaging yourself as you heal.

Thx, it was robotic surgery, and 6 wks makes sense to me...

my surgeon never said one way or the other, with the complications i had post surgery, and the fact that i was on catheter for 63 days, i think the dr. assumed it would be the last thing i would be thinking about.

but to my amazement, and to his later, i had full natural wood while on the cath, and even managed to have the big "O". i would not reccomend anyone doing that with a cath in place, as it was a creepy feeling giving the wee one a work out with that tube in place, but it did technically work. seems like my first attempt was about a month out from surgery, but can't remember for sure.

If you had a large prostate, the size of the hole in your bladder after removal would be large. So the amount of sewing with the disappearing fishing line would be very extensive. That whole reconstruction will be fragile and susceptible to damage until it heals up real well. An erection will strain that, but probably won't hurt anything, but I wouldnt go beatin' and bangin' on it for 6 to 8 weeks.

I had a lot of cutting done and was told to wait 6 to 8 weeks. I joked: "68 weeks? Really?"

The best answer is still the first, ask your surgeon. That is the only safe answer.

Rigby, that sounds like "sound" advice in my opinion. For curiousity sake, are you getting any kind of "awakening" down there yet? I.E., night time errections, even if partial? If so, that would be a good sign. And as you probably know, you can achieve an orgasm without having any errection, many men were surprised by this.

As an encouragement to you, and I am 4 years out from open surgery, my sex life is as good if not better, than before PC. Once you get use to having dry orgasms, what I have found is very long and intense orgasms, much more than it was in the past. I don't mind trading the messy part for the new and better orgasms.

The question has been asked, answered and discussed numerous times before here, and it's appropriate, since we are encouraged to start ED rehab as early as possible. This act is a legitimate part of that rehab course and is encouraged by most doctors and experts. The stimulation helps to speed regrowth and regaining sexual function. Some people may not be comfortable with reading discussions on the subject, but there's always the Ignore button or moving on to the next post. Attacking or flaming another member isn't appropriate and does not provide support, nor does the same in rebuttal when attacked. Time for both to cool their responses, before one or both gets booted. Cool it, guys, ignore and carry on...

It's a very good question. A lot of us are either very young or feel young and healthy enough to want/need sexual relations. This disease can jeopardize sexual function so rehabilitation is a key part of our recovery. And guess what... "jacking off" is an integral part of the rehab.

Lastly, some of us are more fortunate than others in the severity of our disease, but I wouldn't assume that sex isn't important to them.

It is an important question that needs to be discussed.

I was told "Don't even look at IT for the first 4 weeks". Allow some time to heal the nerves.

I was to start 50 mg Viagra 72 hours after the cath was removed Monday, Wednesday and Fridays and at 4 weeks, start using the ED pump daily and a 100 mg boast pill on Fridays with manual stimulation 1 hour later. Working for me now.
