15 months post surgery-functioning again!

Guys: Just a word of encouragement to all of you fellows who have severe ED and are not able to make love after surgery.  Don't give up!  I was lucky enough to have immediate urinary control (never even one pad) after the catheter was removed and thought that the ability to get an erection would be equally simple.  But it was far from that.  I used a VED, took Cialis daily, and was successful with Bimix injections.  At 6 months I started Bimix and it worked well, but it was a nuisance and took time to work and then time to wear off.  Although it didn't really hurt, it is something that a guy doesn't want to think about.  To be honest, I felt like a freak having to inject, but it was certainly better than nothing. I went thru one 5 cc. vial for 20 injections over the last 7 months.  Just today, I bought my second vial of Bimix, but I decided to just try without an injection and see where things go.

Recently, I have been noticing some improvement with just Cialis used as prescribed by my doctor to keep the nerves growing and blood flowing and just tonight, one 50 mg. Viagra alone was able to give me "enough" to make love again. Yes, I am seeing a little blue vision when I blink and I have a stuffy nose, but I feel like a complete man again! tongue   My wife credits her "hotness" eyes   for my success, but it seems like it is just a matter of allowing enough time to heal from the trauma of surgery.

I must be honest, looking back, I was quite depressed and nearly lost all hope for natural erections after 9 months. But then I started reading postings on HealingWell Forum about guys regaining ability even after 2 years and that gave me some hope.  Tonight my hope turned to reality! Guys, this road is a slow one for most of us....but don't give up.  If I extrapolate my progress, I should be in excellent shape in about another 6 months, but for now I am a very happy dude!   And if I don't improve one iota, I am still overjoyed!

I must also thank my surgeon for her skill and my wife for her patience. Guys-Don't give up.

Age now 59. PSA 3.3, Free PSA 21 %, Biopsy 1 of 12 pos. Gleason 3+4.

DaVinci Surgery -7/2011 Chilton Hospital, Nothern NJ, Dr. Tricia Greene (highly recommended).

Pathology downgraded to Gleason 6, contained. 67 cc volume, 10% involv.

All ultra-sensitive PSA tests < 0.01.

Your story made my day.  I am six months out and waiting patiently for what you have achieved.  Good for you and your wife. Drink a bottle of your favorite and put in on my tab.  Haha.

Bill, were you taking Cialis daily and injecting, or did you lay off the Cialis a day or two before injecting?

To answer your question....I have been taking Cialis everyday since the catheter was removed. I bought "oversea" Cialis  tablets of 20 mg. and have been cutting these to about 5 mg. as my daily dose. This runs about 34 cents per day for me. Actually, I just bite off a corner of the tablet...no bad taste. On days that I would inject, I would skip the Cialis since I believed that it did cause a few 4+ hour erections that almost had me in the ER.  Now as my first order of Cialis is getting low, I am experimenting to see what would be better to order- more Cialis (for prolonged effect; or Viagra for more of a concentrated effect). Both do work for me.  I plan on using a full 20 mg. Cialis when I have sexual relations and use one every 3 days rather than taking smaller daily doses. And I firmly believe that the "oversea" ED meds are indeed the real thing as long as you look for a known company brand name. 

It was a very good feeling to open up the refrigerator this morning and see the full bottle of Bimix sitting there on the top shelf.....And knowing that I may never need it again!

 

One more thing....I thought that there was something wrong with my libedo over the last few months. Perhaps low T. But since being successful last night, my libedo has shifted gears and I am thinking again like an 18 year old. I now believe that depression is a major component of ED following surgery.

Congrats, nice story.

Mine is similar, I had been using the VED, and all three pills (not together of course), and was planning on talking to my uro on my 1 year anniversary about injectables, when wham, Viagra did the trick. To date (over the last 2 months), my wife and i are very satisfied. I still hope for 'naturals', but not nearly as hard as I prayed before.

What a great story and I'm familiar with the feeling. It took me 5 months to have successful penetration without a pump, only pills and then another 6 months with generic Viagara. Now after 2 1/2 years I really rarely use anything. I still remember the excitement and elation of my first time with no help other than a small blue pill...it was so sayisfying to know I was still in the game. I'll bet you'll be pill free in another year.

Great advice...it takes times! I wish more couples understood this. We had zero response with levitra post-op. We understood the point of the medicine at that point in time. We moved to trimix with great results. Hubby is now successfully back to levitra. He has found if he takes it at night, it still works in the morning. Also, if hubby takes the medicine at night, he has very sexual dreams. Congrats to you and your wife. Thank you for sharing. It's important to hear success stories too!

P.S. Dude, I agree. Depression can easily kick in if one is to believe there is no hope for their ED, and if they have a poor understanding of the healing process following surgery.

My story is similar. I did the Cialis the first 3 months but it had no effect. At about 6 months I started injections, the right around 12 months I started feeling the first signs of life. Within a few weeks I was able to switch to pills. I use viagra as it seemed the most effective.

I only use the pills about 1/3 of the time because I can usually (barely) get by without it and the common issues of needing to plan ahead, not liking the side effects and the cost. I also find that while the pills help, it's not a significant improvement.

I'm now at 22 months and just last week when we engaged in sex I got a natural hard erection that lasted more than an hour. It was like I had done an injection, but I hadn't even taken a pill. I haven't felt anything like that since before the surgery. It hasn't happened again, but I'm hoping that it's a sign of continued healing.

It's great to hear! I'm at 18 months,I have improvement going on also,injections work great yeah but just taking a pill would be easier and something to work towards,I notice VIAGRA seems to make pump work better,and therapy idea really is important.Have you kept up with the kegals? Does it still matter this long after? I quit them for awhile along with therapy and noticed less response and girth.
