As I posted in my MDV3100 Updates thread, my husband's PSA went from 11 to 26. But there were variables in this: MRI shows reduction in tumors and the lupron shot which was given unsuccessfully a month ago. So the onc is happy to keep him on the MDV3100 to make sure any future decision if need be is clearcut.

Probably no one knows I am an impatient man. Thirty days after completing IGRT, I had a PSA test in September which dropped it from .06 to .04. I had another test last week, and it dropped to .03.

I was really hoping for .02, but anything downward is a good trend. Radiation does not kill cancer cells, but changes their DNA, so the cells cannot divide. So, if the doubling time is slower, the downward trend will be slower. I am hoping in another 30 days to see another drop, but I also realize that it may be 6 months until I hit my lowest reading.

If I don't hit 0, I will expect another rising PSA. The radiation should have gotten all of any leftover prostate tissue there might have been, so any PSA reading is indicative of PCa.

Meanwhile, it is on with the Good Life. Just spent a weekend in NYC visiting my son who sang in an opera. Had some great food, didn't hit anyone, or get hit. Even found a parking place where I woudn't get a ticket.

goodlife, glad to see your continuing decline in numbers. A brave man to drive in NYC, but to be expected from a guy like you. Hi to your lovely wife, keep on kicking the can down the road....

Random. Yeh for the downs, sorry for ups. Singing in the opera in NYC - cool. Didn't say drove in city - that would be certifiable. Wish all paths, decisions, etc. were more well defined and less stressful.......especially the waiting for results.....constantly and then what's next. I've had briefly a couple of days that I'm tired of our battles, the unknown, the when, the how.......primarily what's next. Right now ours is the Jevtana, but for how long? Than what? How much pain, confusion? For now we are mostly stronge and keeping on keeping on. Doesn't seem to many people really get it. He looks awful (Taxotere ) so sorry. He looks great - guess things all better, on and on. Thoughts and prayers to try to wait patiently for the what's next.

Got mine back last week. <0.01. Will continue ADT vacation.

What is to be expected just one month out?

Oct. PSA is 0.07.  This may be my nadir since it has now been 20 months since SRT.  Dr. Strum wrote that radiation has done all it will do by 18 months.  Hopefully I can keep it in reasonable control with diet, exercise and supplements.

My October 24 test results are back. These are exactly a month after my Lupron shot. Yes, it takes forever due to the lab arrangement my insurance requires.

PSA 1.8 (down from 5.2 in early September)

T 17

Lupron appears to be working, and I've got the side effects to prove it.

Next tests early December.
