Welcome, new friend- old dog

In another thread, old dog posted for the first time, saying:
I'm a new member to the forum and have found the discussions very enlightening. I have had an enlarged prostrate for quite a few years (BPH). Gradually rising PSA got me to the urologist (went from the low 3's to over 4 with a year). Two biopsies in spring of 2010 came back negative for PC.
Put on finasteride which lowerd PSA to under 2. DRE in 8/2012 revealed hard spot on left side of prostrate. Ensuing biopsy found 1 of 12 cores of (<5%) with PC on leftside. GS 3+3. Urologist specializes in roboytic surgery but refered to radition oncologist to evaluate other options. Because of an unrelated issue that requires annual abdominal MRI's and a gastro-intestinal problem, I ruled out radiation and had the DaVinci surgery on 11/1. There was minimal pain, had the catheter removed this Monday. The incontinence is not anywhere near as bad as I thought it might be. Some inadvertant loss of control when I make a sudden movement, but nothing all that significant. Pathology report very encouraging; GS 6; staging pT2c, PNX, no positive margins. I feel very fortunate at this point. Best wishes and good thoughts to all.

Old Dog -- Welcome to HW. Sorry you have reason to be here but glad you found us.

Sounds like a great report. Take care of yourself and concentrate on getting healed. It appears you have a good start on the incontinence; don't wait too long to address the ED. Hope your recovery goes smooth. Keep us posted on your progress.

old dog, it seems that if a man has ED before, he will have ED after, in most cases. Don't recall any cases where treatment improved matters.... If you still have the medical conditions that was causing you problems before then you can expect the same afterwards. Sorry to say, but that seems to be the trend. BUT, there's other possibilities, starting with pills, then injections and even implants, IF it don't come back on it's own.
