Hello friends,
Sorry it has taken me so long to post back. Today is 12/23, and the day we learned my husband had prostate cancer. I have a bit of nervous energy today, probably because it is exactly 1 year.
I hope to give hope in sharing our story. Last year on this date, I learned that my husbands PSA of 17 was an intermediate cancer risk. It has been a year of ups and downs, but lately I've started to feel like I've got some distance between myself and the disease, and I'm amazed how time is healing my emotional wounds. If you are in the thick of it, hang in there.
We wrote our story for the PCRI (Prostate Cancer Research Institute, Dr. Mark Scholz). We met their editor back in September at the Zero Prostate Cancer Summit in Washington, D.C. She was intrigued with our story and asked that we share, and so we did. :)
We feel compelled to provide support in anyway we can, and that is why I'm sharing my story here as well. You have all been so supportive and have taught me so much about this disease. Thank you all for a year of friendship, it really means so much.
Please cut and paste the link (if you can't click it), and then scroll down to current newsletter, and click the PDF file that reads: Never Too Young For Prostate Cancer. Sorry the newletter looks piecemeal. Our story was part of their quarterly Newsletter, but I'm having a hard time figuring out how to post the entire newsletter. You can click each PDF to read each section. Also, you can sign up to receive their entire newsletter as well.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! http://prostate-cancer.org/newsletters/pcri-insights-quarterly/
