It's been quite a ride so far. First biopsy by my local urologist, prostate size 64cc.
The second read at the request of local RO for treatment planning, by their in house ultra-sound tech @ 39cc.
Recent consult with Dr Dattoli, color doppler ultra sound with him present, while they mapped out and measured, 65.1cc. During this one I had my own monitor to watch as everything was recorded and measured. Tumors throughout with detail of areas of extra capsular extension, as expected based on my path report. Really sobering to see it first hand.
My local RO is basing initial treatment on this info and it appears they were way off. They use IMRT with gold markers, which can line up well, but once the treatment session begins, no adjustment for movement is made.
With the DART system, the machine calibrates and corrects movement in real time, as the prostate moves, from breathing, slight internal organ shifting, bladder filling, gas, other other, resulting in more precise targeted radiation. At least that's the theory.
Anyone have more info on DART?
