I just got my lab results from my PSA test last Thursday.

PSA was up to 9.4 (was 7.2 in Sept of last year).  The Free/Total was 10.

I guess that kind of kicks my Active Surveilance out the window.

I made an appointment for the 9th of Jan with the Radiation Oncologist at Moffitt Cancer Center here in Tampa.

Based on your last biopsy, showing you a confirmed Gleason 7, it's obvious that you need to seek the best treatment plan that you feel comfortable with. I wouldn't be advising AS for any Gleason 7 case.

You are lucky to have a top cancer center in your backyard. Can't do much better than Moffitt. Best wishes, medved.

David, I suggest that you also meet the people at Datolli in Sarasota. A top rate Prostate Cancer center that has pioneered many of the radiation treatment methods in use.

DataDavid - sorry to hear the PSA went up again, but glad you continue to move forward and do your research into options and meeting with some top notch medical folks. Moffitt's a good one for sure, and as JNF stated Datolli is pretty much world class as well. Keep on keepin' on, best to you.

Dave, Looks like you had a 13 year run on AS. I am 52 and just starting the AS journey.  When you were first diagnosed did you ever consider treatment.  People tell me since I am 52 and not 65+ I should not be considering AS.  Also over the 13 years have you seen breakthroughs in treatment methods?  Keep us posted on what you decide on a treatment.

First of all good luck!!!  When I was first diagnosed I was adamantly opposed to treatment.  I took a lot of flak for my decision but I stuck with it.  In all honesty I am not sure I am doing the right thing getting treated.  If it were not for the additional flak I would take now I would not seek treatment.  I think I could squeeze another 10 years out of AS.  I would rather have quality of life over quantity.  If the doctor I am seeing on Wednesday will do HDR Brachytherapy I think I am going to go with that.

You have to go with what your gut says.
