Many Thanks from Across the Pond.

As a Relatively new member of the ' De Vinci ' Procedure, 11.1.12 at Christie's N.H.S.

The Forum has been a Godsend of Information for my situation.

My problem has been a Water Infection after Catheter Removal, which lasted 6 to 7 weeks. Now my Challenge is Leakage, which seems to be a source of Frustration for me. I continue to Pelvic Floor Exercise with Hope. I remain Positive, and remain forever grateful for the NHS in the U.K for looking after me in my Hour of Need. I did not have any Symptoms, No Blood, No Pain. I flagged up on a routine Blood Test for Cholesterol. I would recommend Robotic Surgery !.

Reebok -- Welcome - and Congratulations for making it "to the other side". :-)

Be patient. There is a lot of healing going on. Things will improve over time.

Watch your fluid intake: you may want to cut back on the total amount of liquid you consume, while at the same time increasing the percentage of water. Avoid or cut back on caffeine and alcohol and other known bladder irritants (which includes some fruit juices). Do your Kegels in different positions: lying down, sitting, standing, walking.

tigerfan53. Greetings from the North West of England. post surgery PSA 0.1ug/L. which I understand is very good. Biopsy 40% on both sides of the prostrate. Between diagnosis and surgery 6 to 8 weeks it had began to spread, beyond the prostrate but only just. Caught well in time and all cancer removed. Very Happy and Grateful to my Medical Team.

Congrats on a successful surgery. I had mine in July 2012 and still have
continence issues. Tigerfan53 brings up a good point, watch what you drink.
I love spicy food but have had to change that also.
I still am not sorry I had my Da Vinci. So far so good.

Date formats get us - did you have surgery in Nov.'12 or January '12?

If Nov., you are way too close to surgery to be worried about continence progress. It can be slow and take many months.

Also, keep doing the Kegels, but be sure you are not doing so many that it tires out the muscles. Is there a physical therapy or incontinence specialist (here it is usually a nurse of physician's aide) who could consult on that with you?

Hey Reebok!

I had my Da Vinci at the Christie too, nearly three years ago now. They are a fantastic team there and if my experience is anything to go by you'll be (almost!) as good as new in time.

I agree with you that this Forum has been a real godsend. Your medical team will have given you some great information but it has really helped me too to read the personal experiences of other guys who have gone before, here on the Forum.

Hi, I had my surgery nearly 4 years ago at Addenbrookes in Cambridge, and I must admit the NHS did a good job, although ,like you, I had a UTI after the snake was pulled. I was not given any antibiotics when they took the catheter out, but I believe in the States they do put you on a course of antibiotics. This lasted several weeks with 3 lots of antibiotics being given.

I did not get antibiotics in the US and did not have a UTI at all. Best of luck to both of you guys. Do keep us posted.
