Question About Leakage After IMRT

Hi, everyone. Husband (69) completed IMRT the end of October. He has done absolutely great. Had to take Flomax for a while, but other than that, all has been well. Radiation was his primary treatment.

Just in the last week (not quite three months later), he has developed leaking during the night only. He sometimes soaks through his underware.

I realize this is not unusual, but it did surprise us this just started, and we are wondering if it is likely to go away after some time? We have an appointment with his RO in about a week and will certainly be asking about this, but thought I'd get some info here before we go. We like to attend these consults well armed.

Really great to hear that hubby is doing fine! I am a "light" sleeper so always make it to the bathroom in time at night--it's hard, but try to limit his intake of fluids for 3 hours before he goes to bed--I imagine that both the radiation and lupron are causing him major fatigue at this time so at night he is out!! I'm still on flowmax..I ran out a month or so ago and decided to "wean" myself off of it; that didn't work since I almost had to go to the emergency room..

Sounds like the start of radiation systitus, which comes on gradually after radiation, had burning and frequency for 4 months until they found a tumor in the bladder caused by the radiation, removed tumor but bladder a real mess, went thru 80 hours of hyberbaric chamber that ended a month ago and feel great now, but remember radiation works for years after the treatments. The burning is from bladder Iritation and bleeding Have Doc give you a cystascope and find out what the problem is you will be glad you did. Don't be affraid of the systacope they sound much worse than they actually are.
