I copied PatMac's post to a new thread, which is something any of us (not just moderators) can do to help them get a "fresh" answer.

Hubby's Advocate has not posted since 22 June 10.

She may still be out there reading, but I would guess decisions were made a while back?

Thanks everyone for all your replys. As I read through your posts I find myself taking what comforts me rather then being able to find fact. I'm learning that this seems to be the way with Prostate cancer. In 3 weeks my PSA test will be done as I will meet with my urologist loaded with far more questions then when he delivered me my post operation path report. I can only hope that a non dedectable PSA level is not seen again. Thanks TC Las vegas for the link to LowRoad.

I'm 72 I've had brachy therapy, plus External Beam Radiation about 4 years ago. All of the treatment and diagnosis is at the University of Colorado Health Science Center and Anschucts Cancer Center. Now my PSA is rising and a recent (1/26/13) biopsy indicated that 2 of 14 tissues - - the right and left seminal vesicle had invasion. The surgeon (both robotic and other) indicated it would be very difficult to rescue with 50% chance of bowel and bladder issues. The Rad Oncologist indicated that he could possibly radiate the seminal vesicles since they hadn't be radiated previously. The UO has indicated a wait and see approach. My kids are urging second opinion. Advice.

My doctors say they are often more aggressive in their treatment plans. They have told me that in their experience PCa usually turns out to be worse than the biopsy/pathology indicates and they would rather try to get out in front of the cancer with adjuvant therapies rather than using sequential therapies in response to a rising PSA. There is also evidence that adjuvant therapies can be more effective than sequential as the different treatments are hitting the cancer more powerfully at once and can have a complimentary effect. They often quote SWOG studies backing up their reatment plan for me.

Clearly you want to heal as much as you can from the surgery before starting the radiation, but getting started on hormone therapy can,and usually is, be done before the radiation. It appears to me that you exhibit high risk factors and need to consider aggressive treatment.

Were you, perhaps, responding to an oldish comment? Maybe something on page one? The most recent comment (by Denver High) is about his recurrence four years after brachy and EBRT. I promoted it to its own thread so he would get more responses.

Hello everyone, I,m Jim 2weeks post op, 15percent involvement of the prostate 4+3=7 lymph removed showed clear,vesicles had most of the cancer in them have full bladder control, Ed yeah. Having discomfort when going number 2. Also a lot of gas pain, the kind that make your toes curl. Praying no spread to the colon, anyone else had these issues? Perhaps post op issues? Please advise. Welcome, I think things will get better. I'm trying to remember my 2 week post op to possibly relate to your circumstances but it's hard to do. I'm sure others will provide input. What I can share is anything that happened was cancer related, I still question many issues but I don't freak out as much now. Life's good, if you feel like making seven inspirational references, I think that's great. You'll find some folks that may disagree with your beliefs anywhere you turn but you'll also find many that share and encourage your views. I find that my faith helps me deal with many bumps in my pathway. You're in my prayers.
