My advanced prostate cancer has been treated at UCSF for about
4 years (I also consult with Drs Lam/Scholz). After failing surgery, SRT, and ADT3 I've been in a clinical trial with ARN-509 for almost a year...PSA last week was 0.08...all good news. However two weeks ago I had my colon/rectum removed as a result of a rectal cancer found during a routine colonoscopy..if I need chemo for rectal cancer I will be removed from the trial...the stakes are high. The good news is on Feb 13 there is a tumor board ( consisting 8-15 different onocologists, surgeons, radiologists) that meets monthly to discuss "interesting" cases......I am an interesting case .....sure wish I never heard that term coming from a doctor !!!!! However, given my dificult situation I am blessed to be treated at a center of excellence/teaching hospital....where else could you get that kind of talent together in one room with no interruptions ? The struggle goes on.
