Four year anniversary result

I had blood drawn on Wednesday for my annual physical that includes a PSA test. The nurse called me this morning to let me know that the result was <.008. I'm grateful to continue my membership in the zero club.

    Going on 76.  5/9/12 robotic surgery for Gleason 9 in all 12 core biopsies. Bladder and seminal vesicle invasion.  No mets and 7 neg nodes.  Pre-surg dgarelix and 2 months post surgery a psa zero and same at 3 months.  At 5 months recurrence with psa of 0.12. 68.4 Gry over 34 treatments. Resumed degarelix and will continue for at least 6 months.  psa 2 days ago- anxiously waiting results.  Aggressive treatment but feeling great except for hot flashes.

Really glad to have you on this forum! Although Ed and a few others are about my age, I was starting to feel lonesome! The members here support each other and are from all walks of life; many, like you are extremely knowledgeable and provide the rest of us with much needed information freely. At last count, I noted retired ceo's, ministers, trial patient advocates, college professors, fighter pilots, and a mixture of military personnel who have "been there". I suppose that you should start your own thread eventually, but I don't know how to guide you..Even though I was an "English major" from Loyola that was many decades ago and I never became computer literate--love books and yellow lined tablets-lol.
I noted that you are taking "degarelix" which is supposed to be just as good as lupron without many of the side effects..
To provide proper perspective to your question as far as how long to continue ADT, each individual will have to decide for his self with guidance from a good physician..I've seen some go for only 6 months, others like myself go for 3 years per nccn guidelines, and at my monthly meeting with other pca individuals we have 1 who has been on lupron for 7 years and runs in marathons and "wins"--age 76.
I can and have lived with lupron asnd can go for another year easily--I don't appreciate some of the effects, but it's my choice..I'm glad that you "chimed in"
