I am taking Zytiga and Prdnisone of course with it and will run out the end of February.  Does anyone have a funding source when I have medicare and supplimental so am looking for co-pay assistance.  Cronic Disease fund has no money, Johnson & Johnson will not help when you have insurance and Patient Access Network has no funding either.  Anyone got any ideas out there???  Please help as my first script of 2013 will cost $2,222.92.

Try to find a "non-profit" cancer research center. They receive funding grants for that purpose and can take money from the grants for patients who need assistance with medication. I'm not sure where you live (USA or another country) but that is what the cancer center we are at told us. You will likely still have some copay but we were told since Zytiga received the latest approval anyone without insurance coverage can receive assistance through the cancer center. We were told the key to this assistance is ensuring you are at a "not for profit" center. Talk to your doctor to see if they can help find out about this. If you are at a for profit hospital find out if they have resources or connections to assist.

In case you have no options, you can buy Ketoconazole from Canada with any Rx (cheaply) or still is somewhat cheap even in the USA, give away price compared to Zytiga. They both target the enzyme CYP17 and both use prednisone and likely have alot in common, in clinical trials they rejected anyone whom had Keto useage prior (a clue). It may or may not work for you, but it is cheap. You can read up on useage and side effects. www.northdrugstore.com   (Canada will mail drugs for $10 charge).

Here is a comparison on generic casodex Michigan Walgreens 90 count 50mg= $484.99 normal cost

northdrugstore.com Canada 84 count 50mg (made in U.K.)= $45  (total cost)

Yeap, 1/10th the price.....slightly lower (lol).

We couldn't get help with our Zytiga last year or Xtandi in January.We were told all grants for prostate cancer were already exhausted. Our Xtandi in January was $2,854.00. Two days after we paid for it, the Dr. Said to stop taking it cause PSA was rising again.Now he says go back on it while he waits for the radium223 to arrive mid February from Norway. Hoping it slows the PSA some, we will never know but for the $$$$$ copay he is taking it.
