Finding a surgeon in SF Bay Area

I was recently diagnosed at 57yr old. I am trying find the best surgeons in my area to perform the surgery, with robotic experience. I'm reaching out to find out who's most active and successful in the area.

The diagnosis was done by Dr. Gholami in San Jose, CA. Anyone who has worked with him on their journey that can comment is great information. I am considering him to do the surgery.

Welcome to our corner of the world. Sorry you need to be here talking to us. I had my treatments through Kaiser's cancer center in Santa Clara and had good results with them. There are a number of really good doctors in the Bay Area. USCF has an outstanding program - you might want to look into that. I am sure that others can provide more info for you.

A lot of who to see depends on how advanced your case is and your general health.

After extensive research as to the best surgeons I would either go with UCSF or Stanford. I chose Dr Maxwell Meng for my robotic surgery. You will never find a better surgeon or wonderful person than Dr Meng. He is at UCSF.

Several people independently recommended Dr. Peter Carroll at UCSF to me. He is the head of urological oncology there. He did mine. My experience was positive, and I had negative margins and a pretty good though not complete recovery of sexual function. However, I appear to be in the early stages of BCR right now. He had 500-700 robotic surgeries under his belt three years ago.
