We found out that Clint's CT came back good today.  Although, his PSA went from a 41.3 to a 53.5.  We were kinda prepared that the number would rise due to the biopsies and DREs this week.  Still trying to process all this info.  We thank all of you for your posts.  Clint and Alison

BTW Damgoodview is our property's name.  We have a few acres that overlook a lake/reservoir in Idaho. We were plannning on building a small cabin on it this summer.

By now, you have been inundated with advice.
The ones I most agree with are the ones that advocate taking a breath and looking at the alternatives that you believe are right for you.
I had the radioactive I-125 seeds implanted 3 weeks ago and I am thrilled with my choice. Side effects are minimal and I am leading a normal and active life. I had Gleason 6 and low density, and while I certainly cannot testify at this point that the treatment has been successful, I am very happy with my choice of treatment.
I really think that is the main thing. Make your own decisions.
I do not agree that the "gold standard" is surgical removal of the organ (but I am not a doctor). I think there are at least 4 equally effective treatments right now: surgery, robotic surgery, external beam radiation and low dose brachytherapy (seeds).
And there are more! Cyberknife, high dose brachytherapy, photon therapy... and I am sure many more.
I had simple, run-of-the-mill prostate cancer. (Yes, I do refer to it in the past tense. It will die before I will.)
Your husband may have something more challenging, but you have a lot of choices. My message is that nobody can decide but him. It's not easy, but it is the next challenge of your lives.

damgoodview - I figured that's what your handle was about, place overlooking the lake sounds beautiful - and replace the "were planning to build" with "will be building" - no reason to think otherwise. . . . .

There has been some great advice out here, and also unfortunately some (IMHO) opinions that crossed the line and came across more as "telling you" what is best, particularly very dated comments about "the gold standard." Only the two of you can make the decision that is best for your hubby - so please try to appropriately weigh in the input of us out here. At times some may come across a bit too fervent in what worked for them; I too was guilty of that not so long ago - but then realized by doing so I was doing more harm than good.

Again, continued best to you both - and be prepared to show pictures as you continue to develop that darngoodview!
