So. After all my consultations, which include my GP, 2 uro surgeons, my cardiologist, and most likely in the future, my medical/radiation oncologists. They all recommended surgery.
At my pre-op appointment on March 7th, the doctor said something that got me thinking. They were concerned with the
location of the G7 cancer. It was at the top of the prostate near the bladder.
Is it possible that after all my talking to doctors, their primary treatment recommendation is surgery because of the
location and other things that were on the biopsy pathology report?
For a number of years now, 4+, whenever my GP did a dipstick urinalysis it showed a trace amount of blood in the urine. She seemed concerned with this, and I had asked my primary uro about
it. My uro seemed to shrug it off as not anything to be concerned with for now.
With some of the recent posts about
radiation vs. surgery, if every doctor you talk too about
your situation recommended surgery wouldn't you be inclined to go the surgery route? I'm sure I could have found a doctor who said yeah...do radiation.
I guess my line of thought here is, surgery sometimes is the best primary treatment option given the individuals progression of the disease and all the factors that surround it.
I don't know, I'm 3 days out from surgery and my mind has left and is playing by itself in left field.
