Other than some abdominal pain, I'm doing well!
I've been cut off from the pain meds. I was given way to much in recovery and they said it was affecting my breathing. So I've been cut back.
The cath isn't to bad. Just "burns" when I move a lot.

Hey there iSpark!

Congratulations on the first day of the rest of a very long life. Glad you made it through & are now with us on the other side.

Just do what the doctors say & you will do just fine.

Now, here's a toast (with more coffee!) to a nice, smooth recovery!

hope all's well sparkie.

i've been sending you positive vibes all night!

hints for your discharge:

- take extra leg bags and the straps, they get dirty. after a couple of days the big bag gets too cumbersome, use the leg bags.
- get one of the blue plastic clamps, use it to clamp the catheter between changes, cuts down spillage.
- take your pain pills.
- get extra suppositories, take your stool softeners, those BM's get hard on narcotics.
- relax, get the remote, get comfortable on the couch with and enjoy March Madness, don't hurry your recovery. pushing too hard will set you back.
- use ointment (A+D or antibiotic) around the meatus, if the catheter sticks to your urethra you'll be sorry!
don't worry if there's a little oozing of stuff around the catheter, it's gross but normal
- had large baggy pants/PJ's to wear around,
- just shower without a bag, just let it drip, keeps things cleaner

Welcome to the second day of the rest of your long life.  Gasman gave you some great advice. One comment about the blue clips to clamp on the catheter during bag changes, make sure you clamp the tube only not where the tube goes through the ....I think you know what I mean. smhair

Get off the scrip pain meds as soon as possible, I found that Advil worked great from my first day home on, saved those pain pills for something major like the tooth ache I got last year. smilewinkgrin

Hey guys!
Pretty sore today and getting bladder spasms.
I have been walking the hall, the first time was very weird.
Hopefully I'll be discharged this evening.

Talked to doc today, he said he was able to spare both nerve bundles.
He also said a blood vein or artery gave him some trouble but was able to fix.

Talk to you guys later. I need to walk to the nurses station and chat a little! lol

Sounds like everything went text book. Welcome to the other side.
Now keep walking and don't chase the nurses around the nurses station.
