Dried Blood in Urine Post DaVinci RP

I underwent surgery about a month ago.  For the last week or so I am noticing what appears to be dried blood in my urine.  I think they are dried because they do not make the urine red or change urine color at all.  These (clots?) are very small.  Is this normal?  Could this be something else?  After the biopsy I was alerted by my uro that I might see small blood clots and it was something I shouldn't worry about.  I did have small blood clots after the biopsy but they were not dried and they gave my urine a red tint.  Those post biopsy clots resolved before the surgery.  Thanks for any information/guidance.

I experienced the same thing after my daVinci.  I had no issues until 3 weeks out when suddenly I started passing the small blood clots. I knew what they were but was concerned they suddenly started so far from surgery.  I called the nurse help-line (for the surgeon) to see if it was normal.  I was told it was not the norm but was fairly common and not to worry about it unless the clots became large enough to block the urethra or if bleeding increased.  The clots stopped a few days later.

If you get overly concerned call your medical professional.

Thanks Mr. Not So Anxious. I am also not so anxious after reading your post. Do you or anyone else have any tips on how to resolve the issue? Drink more water? Anything else? Thx.

Drinking more water is what I was told to do. If you keep things flowing at a good pace you should be OK.

If you do feel like a large clot is blocking urine flow - or other abnormalities, by all means contact the appropriate medical professionals.

When you see all those dark spots coming out it makes you wonder what is going on inside.... did they hook up the plumbing correctly??? tongue

My husband had this after his surgery at about 3 to 4 weeks. Looked like someone ground pepper in his urine. Called the nurse and she said it was just dried blood and nothing to worry about. It subsided in a couple of days.

Thanks, Jane. That's a good description....ground pepper in the urine. That's exactly what mine looks like. Thanks for your response.

there are going to be floaters in the urine. there are small injuries, from the catheter or the sutures....and they scab over. Some days later, the scabs fall off and that is what you see. I think I was seeing small amounts of stuff even 3 weeks later.
