Bump at LARP incision site

My LARP surgery was 22 days ago. The vertical incision near my navel is 1.5 inches long, which is almost fully healed and only a thin line remains.

At the top of the incision it feels like someone buried a spherical object in my body, roughly the size of a gumball. It was there immediately after the surgery.

I discussed this with the surgeon on day 8 after the surgery and he felt the bump. He said that he thought it would go away and suggested that after the incision healed that I apply vitamin E oil to that spot and let it absorb into the skin.

1) Did anyone have a similar bump?

2) Everything that I read online says that medical research has shown that applying vitamin E to scars or damaged skin has not benefits at all.

Nearly four years after surgery the scar by my navel is two inches long, it's dark red, raised and about a third of an inch wide, and still itches/aches.
But I have problems with scars in general, I have several scars on my chest and abdomen that are large and red (keloid scars).
Keloid scars however tend to develop over time, this soon after surgery it may indeed be some swelling that will go away by itself.
You have already done the important thing, which is to talk to the doc about it.
Vit E may or may not help, what may well help is the actual massaging and my massaging with an oil you won't risk damaging the skin/scar the way you might if you rubbed the area while dry.
As for my scars well my dermatologist is trying to help with some very strong steroid like cream, but my biggest problem is them hurting rather than what they look like.

With regard to your comment/update I note that that guy at the other "forum" asked his question 4 years ago and has had no replies, which just shows how much better HW is.

Two months later all the incisions have healed nicely, however the one above my navel feels just the way you described.
