the biggest problem is see in your situation, is I am not seeing where you have verified recurrence. are any of the 3 doctors calling a psa of .05 recurrence? different standards are used by different RO's of course. when I was in that situation in 2009, the local standard was having 3 PSA readings, each 3 months apart, where each was above .10, and each succeeding one was higher than the previous, otherwise 3 readings in a row above .10. Other RO's wouldn't even consider it recurrence until it is above .20.
now, an initial post surgery reading of .05 has some significance to some uro/surgeons. it did with mine, when he told me my 90 post surgery reading was .05, he shook his head, and said, david, I think we are headed for trouble. he was right, 90 days later, it doubled to .10, then kept going up, and recurrence for me was declared at .16.
my current oncologist (2 years now) strongly feels that men jump way too fast into SRT, either from fear (not saying you have any) or being pushed by RO's for the business. He feels SRT is very valid, when true recccurence is indicated, don't get me wrong. but he feels the risks and side effects associated with srt are too great to do it when not really needed, plus as he says, the success rate isn't real high with srt generally.
would never tell you what to do, I don't know all your circumstances, but after what I suffered from a rare but flawed srt experience, I wouldn't go forward based on your current readings, I would want to make darn sure that recurrence was certain, then srt would be justified.
the whole argument about
srt alone, or srt with ht, is an entire subject in itself. I couldn't get 3 RO's at the same radiation clinic that work together in the same hall to agree on that one, though 2 out of the 3 I interviewed with said srt alone, and 1 that said ht with srt, backed away in the end, and said that he couldn't prove that I needed it, and he couldn't prove that it would help.
you have a tough decision ahead, but sounds like you are doing your due diligence in the matter.
my best to you,
david
