I've been having night sweats on and off since my surgery! Anybody have any info for me! I'm paranoid that if might be my lymph nodes! The Doc took one during surgery and it came back clear.. I've noticed almost all the stats on others indicate several lymphs were removed! Doc said he removed the one that most likely would have cancer if it metastasized. Sice then I've read several posts that said this was not a good idea because it has no def path for spreading!

Your signature says that your surgery was 2 months ago. Have you gone 2 months with night sweats without discussing with the surgeon?

No.... All docs say is that it may be caused by stress! I also had a undetectable PSA about 2 Wks ago! I started noticing the night sweats after my diagnosis.. Don't recall them prior or maybe was not paying attention!

I had/have night sweats after my surgery. I never have been able to figure out why the night sweats started after surgery.

I have found that the night sweats "seem" to correlate with my alcohol consumption. One glass of wine with dinner ... no night sweats. Two glasses of wine with dinner ... night sweats. Two mixed drinks ... night sweats. Sometimes I sweat at night without drinking alcohol. Also, the intensity of the nights sweats seems to have decreased with time.

I'd be very interested if you come up with an answer. Maybe it's hormonal changes?

If you find anything out give me a shout ! Unfortunately, I have had some alcohol recently! I will pay more attention to the food and beverages I consume prior to the bouts of night sweats. Unfortunatly, I have little fairh inmy Docs as they have brushed me off from my insistence that I had something more than a blip on my PSA! If I listened to them I would be going on my second PSA without even having a biopsy! They were so casual and unconcerned! U can see from my stats that I demanded a biopsy and for good reason! The Docs keeps saying that I was anxious and needed to chill!

I had a few after surgery, but they were associated with my UTIs and some low grade fever.

I have lots now, but they fall under Lupron side effects (constant hot flashes).

You could ask this of your surgeon if the GP is not taking it seriously.

I doubt if PC in the lymph nodes would cause night sweats, although leukemia and lymphoma can. I seem to recall having some post-surgery night sweats that went away.

Now, being on HT, I do get the night sweats

Multiple Myeloma is another cause of night sweats, as are certain organ failures.

Now, having mentioned a whole bunch of scary possible causes, I suspect the probability is 99% that the cause is a benign one. In fact, others here have also indicated they experienced the same thing.

Here is a man who is scared to death about his prostate cancer and it possibly spreading.. Please don't try and help by saying it could be a bone cancer or organ failure... Thanks Mel but didn't help the situation.

Not always sure how to answer such a question.

I apologize if I have caused undo stress.

We have enough stress as it is. But now you got me curious as to what is appropriate. I'll start a new thread on that.

It's been two years since my surgery and I've had two, maybe three episodes of night sweats.   In each case, they woke me from sleep to find the sheets wet from sweat.  I never experienced this at all before my surgery,

I guess I attribute this to hormonal changes and stress that have occurred since surgery.  The body has gone through some significant changes and it takes time for it to adjust to the "new normal."  I feel the night sweats are a side-effect of those changes and adjustments.  I have not really altered my eating or drinking habits (including alcohol) so I don't think that had anything to do with it.

I was trying to see if anyone else had them as a normal part of PC and recovery! Thank u for your info! I had a bone scan and CT which were neg!

49, are you taking any kind off opioid pain meds? They cause night sweats. Also, by messing with your hormones, i.e. your surgery, will cause a period of imbalance which could set them off for a while. . . Q

I was taking Lorazapam (sp?), Ive been off that for about 10 days now!

I had some for about 1-2 weeks after the cathether was removed (not before). The first night Imy t-shirt I slept in was drenched, twice. I though I was maybe leaking urine and it was wicking up my shirt, but pretty much determined that wasn't it. It got better each night and was pretty much gone after about 2 weeks.
