Running after prostate removed

I started running again (finally 2 years later)well anyway I'm experiencing pain in my groin area after a run.Has anyone out there had similar experiences or does anybody know what would cause this

I'm about 16 months out from my RP and am a big bicycle rider. I wouldn't call it pain, but sometimes if I ride hard against the wind I have some discomfort in the groin area. Doctor said could be scar tissue stretching or just general soreness. Stretching before and after I ride helps. I figure as long as my PSA is good, so am I.

wait - you run? On purpose? someone after you?

I haven't run in 30 years. Hate to think of the pain I'd be in if I started doing that again.

Yep! That was about when I started to do it again. 8 weeks after my sling surgery. It was frightening to see how much I had degraded in 18 months. It hurt a lot.

I am now leaning toward IntheShop Andrew's view and carry a Ruger hand gun so I don't need to run any more. :-)

It is being out of shape, but doubt cardio. Two things go when you stop exercising, cardiovascular fitness, which is normally indicated by shortness of breath, inability to continue like you used to. And joints, muscles, tendons likethat that become " stale and weaker from what they used to be, resulting in pain from too much , too soon. It matters not. The main point it has nothing to do with PCA, arguably.
Stay at it, patience, will get you where you want to be in no time. Get the habit of getting out the door and then go for increases as you sense the ability.

well when you're not in cardio shape and don't stretch properly you'll not only have shortness of breath and that burning lung sensation, but you'll also start to pull things and feel soreness. Both get better quite quickly but the later takes longer. The older we get the more stretching we need before running. Long gone are the days when I could walk in a gym and start running 5k with intervals and sprints mixed in. I now need 10 min of proper stretching or the calves are the first to go.

I was in great shape before my RP (daily gym with mix of weights and intense cardio).

I resumed running 6 weeks post-RP (with OK from the surgeon beforehand). First run was 5.5 miles. My abs and groin felt fine, but my legs were sore for 2-3 days after the run. Seems that my legs got somewhat out of shape due to no workouts for 6 weeks.

I don't know how much my age (41) contributed to my successful/quick return to exercise.

Thanks for the replays guys it has been helpful reading them (for the last two years) I was thinking my bladder was bouncing around because the prostate wasn't there to hold it in place

Gedman If you were 25 and didn't run for 6 weeks , your legs would be sore, tee hee. truthfully. when you get to be my age the only time you ain't sore is when you are moving. thats the truth, I can work out, do this , do that bend here, bend there, never sore. sit still for a minute get up and Im sore till muscle warm up again with movement. I guess the time is coming when I'm sore all the time, but not today….

Have you Dr check you. I had a hernia and did not know it.
