Hello, I was prescribed a bimix injection after my robotic surgery. They gave me a concentrate of (PAP/PHEN) (15mg/0.5mg)/ML for the prescription. The hospital test injection I got was 5 units of (PAP/PHEN) (30mg/1.0mg)/ML which gave me what I guess I'd call a chubby but nothing much. I've been going up in increments of 5 units. I've just gotten to 25 units and have not had "usable results". They told me it could go up as high as 50 or more units to get the desired results. I really wish they hadn't ordered the half strength prescription for me but it's to late as I have what I have.

Can any of you using bimix of a similar mixture and dosage share your experiences? I know everyone is different. I was reading a trimix thread and have no idea why I would have wanted trimix vs bimix but bimix is what they prescribed and me not being a pharmacist or familiar with all this went with what they suggested.

Any info appreciated. Thanks.

Bimix worked better for me than Trimix, the ingredient that is added for trimix, alprostadil, caused me discomfort. You are doing the right thing by gradually increasing your dosage. You'll get there. Keep going until it gets chubby enough for you.

Bill: I used Bimix (roughly same strength as you) for about 6 months with very good results. My doctor wanted to start me at 40 units (0.40 cc /ml) however, I talked him into 25 units (0.25 cc) and it was a good thing since I am sure that I would have required some emergency therapy for a 4 hour erection at .040. I varied between 20 and 25 units for the duration and I did have some 3 to 3-1/2 erections. A slight difference in the amount or side of the injection made a huge difference. Injecting on the left side was much more responsive for me for some reason. I used 31 ga. needles and 5/16 inch length. My wife actually gave me the injections. I kept Sudafed in the medicine cabinet for an antidote to prolonged ED and had to use it a few times. My suggestion is to increase very slowly. It started to become less and less effective as my natural erections took over at about 15 months. I now don't need anything to get a pretty good erection and I keep an un-used bottle of BiMix in the refigerator as kind of a "trophy".
I liked the Bimix since it doesn't have the third ingredient that could cause the well known ache.

Thanks guys. Bill K, how soon after surgery did you start injections and having success? This is really frustrating. I find it difficult to give myself the injection and wonder if the anxiety and added adrenaline of it all is negatively affecting this. The nurse told me to have a glass of wine before. If a glass of wine relaxes her that's great. Does nothing for me. Somehow getting all liquored up is not what I think of as helping to have sex. Maybe this is a good time for some medical weed?

Hi BillD,  When I discovered trimix it was like a miracle drug after months of ED, though it was hit and miss, sometimes I'd get it just right and other times the injections would go astray.  It took 14 months before I didn't need it anymore.

Bill: I started rather late at 6 months post surgery. Most guys start at about 3 months and I should have too. Yes, the anxiety of the injection process is very real. Not only is your "uninflated" pecker rather smaller from surgery, but when you see the needle it pulls into your body even more and it is similar to "pulling an earthworm from the ground!" when you try to get enough length to inject. Like it has a mind of its own! I probably would avoid the glass of wine since alcohol may interfere.

My wife is quite sqeemish and I was able to convince her to give me the shot everytime and she did a very good job. I would just think about upcoming sex as a result of the shot and that made it more tolerable. I used Bimix once a week for about 6 months and it certainly gave me something to look foreward to. The healing process takes much longer than we are led to believe so don't get discouraged since this only adds to the stress and that leads to more ED. So I used about 25 injections overall and about 23 of them where just fine. A few were duds and that was probably just variability in the site / depth of the injection I kept a record of the amount injected, time, duration, feeling, pain during the injection, etc. and this chrt actually helped me to fine tune for best results. My wife never hit the urethra and was much more gentle than the doctor who gave me my first shot. Let the BiMix warm up for at least 10 minutes prior to injection because when it is cold it seems to sting a little more. Bill, overall it is not that bad and many have said that Bimix/ Trimix may actually "jump-start" you on the road to natural erections. I look back at this whole experience and now I realize just how much stress I must have been under due to my ED and I think that this stress actualy held me back in getting back to normal. Using a VED and injecting regularly are part of the require rehab....so you simply do it and think of it as a temporary thing.

Ok, thanks guys. It sounds like I'm doing the right thing and its hopefully either due to the dose or me just not relaxing enough. Hopefully it's not because the doctor screwed up but I have to be honest that those thoughts go through my head from time to time.

Bill,

Just wanted to let you know that it took my husband 14 injections of trimix over a 6 week period to find a dosage that worked. As I mentioned in other threads, once he found the right dosage, it worked better and better the more he injected, and he is now continually reducing the amount of trimix he uses. He had to go up to 75 units of super trimix, which is an unusually high amount. It was initially a very frustrating process, because we did not know what was wrong.

My husband was very upset during those 6 weeks. He is now much more relaxed about it, and feels more hopeful and confident that his ED may resolve.

turn This is my first post. I go to Dr on fri so excited. Some questions. What level and size can I hope for? I am 76, with diabetics. After reading many posts, Bimix sounds best. Do doctors recommend using Viagra with the injections?

Paul: Follow your doctors instructions.  I believe that you should NOT use Viagra with the injections.  As to what "level & size".....after you and your doctor find the correct dosage; you should be at about the same that you were when things worked prior to medical or age difficulties.  The good aspect is once you become erect; you stay erect for more time than you really need.  Take your time and make your adjustments carefully.

Paul,

Why bimix and not trimix? Trimix usually works better for men who aren't super-sensitive to the alprostadil (one of the three drugs mixed together to make trimix). You can always switch to bimix if the trimix gives you too much of an ache.

Like Bill said, follow your doctor's instructions. Usually your doctor will give you the first shot or two and teach you how to do it yourself. Often the first shot will not be quite enough medicine and your doctor will give you instructions for tinkering with the dose to find what works for you. How much you'll need will depend on your blood supply and how much your veins leak.

Once you start down the trimix path.....you will never look back and you will wonder why you didn't get started sooner.......

Hi guys, I'm on the bimix and it took a while (12 injections as I was going up slowly) for me to find my dose.

The positive side to this is the bimix works for me. Problem I had was due to a half strength mix so I was up to 70 units before I got the initial desired results. My local caregiver told me it would have been much easier had I been given the full strength dose in the first place as it would have reached the right strength in much fewer attempts. One of the pluses of going to a local doctor that will help you get the right dose quicker.

To iSpark and anyone else a bit freaked out about an injection, I get it. The idea of doing that do myself was scary. The one good thing my caregiver did was give me the test dose the day the cath came out so I'd know how to give myself the injection as well as how it would feel. The needle is small and it is painless. The obstacle you have to overcome is your mind and the thought of sticking yourself where you'd never want to be stuck. Once you're over the mental hurdle it's very easy to do and I reiterate, it is painless.
