Endorectal MRI and hip replacement

I have a hip replacement and will start proton treatment For prostate cancer at Hampton proton center next month. They have scheduled a standard MRI instead of a endorectal MRI because of my hip. It appears the endorectal is much more accurate. Is it possible to get this type of MRI with a hip replacement?

Perhaps the metal in the replacement makes the MRI more difficult? I've not heard of this specifically.

Since they elected to not do something that they normally would, I'd have to speculate they have good reason for it. You might ask at one of the national proton sites, such as Loma Linda. They have sites for patients where you might find an answer.

Indeed, you would need to know the metal used .. I understand that it is likely a medical grade of Stainless Steel...
Massive Magnetic Fields and Steel, likely don't work well together...

Your hip being projected as if from a rail gun, through the operators window, would not be a good look at the Occupational Health and Safety hearing..

Stainless steel is not ferromagnetic . The MRI will not produce any force on it, so it will not move it. The MRI will show a black spot around the stainless steel hip that could reach the prostate area and make the prostate images non-diagnostic or less useful. Sounds like they have done this before, so dont worry.
A 3T MRI without an endorectal coil is as good as a 1.5 T MRI with an endorectal coil. Even a 1.5T MRI without an endorectal coil can give useful information.

Thanks for the observations..
You may be correct, about the magnetic properties, but I can see a number of said stainless items that will attract magnets.. there is stainless and then stainless.confused
I am no expert, but I think that I heard a friend commenting the he could NO LONGER have MRI's because of his replacement part..
The other thought is inductive heating... is there any effect there..?
