Hello everybody.
I'm a 36 year old male and since April of this year have been experiencing intermittent right side hip pain, lower back pain and urinary symptoms. These include urinary frequency, incomplete bladder emptying, dribbling, some nocturnal urination, etc.
I'm currently under the care of my Urologist. I've been going through the process of elimination. So far he's eliminated bacterial Prostatitis and any issues related to my bladder. Multiple Urinalysis have come back normal as well as multiple DREs. During the process he has prescribed to me Flomax to try and resolve the symptoms which didn't do too much for me.
I recently had a Urodynamics Study. This was NOT fun in the least. I believe there was a suspicion of Overactive / neurogenic bladder. My muscles however were completely normal. No indications of neurogenic bladder
When the Urologist sat me down to go over the test results, he looked at me and said "You're blocked and I need to treat your prostate". I have a Bladder Outlet Obstruction. When he showed me the results of the Urodynamics study it showed a huge increse in pressure upon emptying. The pressure indications were in the red... especially when the last bit of water was coming out.
He began to discuss the varous forms of treatment. We won't know yet which to persue because he has to look at the anatomy of my prostate. This means I need to have a Trans Rectal Ultrasound done on my prostate so he can see where the enlarged area is.
Of course the methods of treatment I'm not liking because they all result in decreased or full retroejaculation. I'm only 36... This is NUTS. The urologist saw how unhappy I was and mentioned I wasn't the first patient my age who had to have their prostate treated this way. He mentioned there have been younger patients than myself with this problem.
Before leaving the office he also gave me a script for a PSA test. Although he didn't mention anything about PCA to me, he did dicate into his tape recorder that I was being sent for PSA. If it returns high we'll perform a biopsy.
Now I''m really really worried here.
I'm worried that i'm going to be Diagnosed with advanced PCA with Bone Mets at 37. My dad is perfectly healthy and I have no older brothers. I am overweight but that I believe is my only risk factor.
I've had a few xrays done on my hip and lower back. All came back normal.
Has anyone experienced anything similar and what was the outcome? Do I have a real reason for thinking about advanced PCA? In my mind everything seems to be lining up for the end.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Nick
