Rocco stitch

Read somewhere about a "Rocco Stitch" for those of us who are getting our sick friend removed. Is this something which is standard procedure? Or should I mention it to my Dr? I mean, my surgery is Thursday and I never discussed it... Thanks

did search for "Rocco stitch", i wouldn't call it an extra stitch, i'd call it standard practice, but still worth discussing it. this was published in an article in 2009.

i would assume it is standard technical part of RALP being used since 2007, assuming your surgeon is properly trained. i hope you did your due deligence on his/her experience and training.

but you need to focus on your surgeon's results, compare his statistics on positive margin rates, ED, and continence to published numbers of other surgeons

if he cannot tell you HIS stats, think about going elsewhere. but remember, it also depends on how you define "continent".

i shouldn't post until i've thoroughly chewed on the info.., but sometimes i get passionate about stuff.

my point is, don't believe in the self-promotion statements of people, especially surgeons.
show me the numbers please.

i lucked out and had good outcome, but i'd hate to be in the shoes of having a bad outcome and then thinking, "if i'd only done more research".
