been on degralix for two months now and im not responding well at all.Psa has risen from 71 ......to 100...and now 300 in under 2 months whilst on this treatment.I want off of this treatment but the doc wants to give it longer.I was off of adt for 9 months and was feeling much better generally.Since going on this med ive had terrible swelling and pain at injection site and have felt terrible....very weak tired ect.This stuff also makes you feel sick which i discovered after 2 months and im now taking anti sickness drugs.All this and my psa has tripled in 7 weeks.Are the doctors always right because im thinking not !!!

Hi Lee, not sure of your medication history, but it clearly is not good that your PSA has risen to 300. It seems obvious that degralix alone is not achieving control of your PC. Perhaps one way would be to add something to degralix, as a compromise (Xtandi?). One should not panic, but I personally would want a doctor to be more proactive with a PSA of 300.

I know a couple of guys who have gotten injection site reactions like yours to degarelix. There are several GnRH agonists like Lupron that you can substitute. You didn't mention if you've had Provenge or Taxotere yet or if you've had any mets. I hope you are talking to your oncologist about clinical trials. There's one now where one can get both Zytiga and Xtandi.

as a degaralix patient for about 1 year now, the SEs you mentioned are exactly on point, from the pain at injection site, redness, swelling muscuar pain ect.., all exactly right. its a strong drug and I've yet to find a trick that helps. But more importantly, is the rise in your PSA. two months is not a long time, Is your T level below 20 yet. I might suggest giving it one more month if you T level has dropped, but not much longer than that
