Looking back on two years...

It's pretty hard to believe that today marks the 2nd anniversary of our dreaded beginning with M.D Anderson.

We were so scared. So shocked. So gloom and doom. It was the beginning of our world turning upside down.

I remember we were there for about 11 days and after each appointment with different oncologist or imaging, the news just kept getting worse and worse.

I remember after each appointment, I would walk down to the corner of the street to either cry, call my family, or whatever. I called it the "walk of pain." I also remember wondering if Bud was getting the same kind of news, as it was it first oncologist appointment as well.

Since I was only reading HW at the time, seeing Bud's high PSA was the only one I had seen at the time that was higher than my husband's, so naturally, I followed his post. Since joining, I've found MANY that were way higher.

Looking back on two years is very bittersweet. Bud is gone, but never to be forgotten and Mr. WW may not be cured, but he sure seems to be beating the odds.

We've since learned to LIVE ABOVE CANCER. It's always there as background noise, but we are living with huge smiles that we never thought would be possible after that first appointment on 8/4/11.

We've made some awesome friends and we're getting pretty good at traveling!

Thanks to all for all of the support which got us to where we are today. Can't wait to see my friends in Rochester and meet some new ones!

Ms. WW, I like your positive attitude!  I thought Bud (Raddad) was already here when I arrived in April, 2010?  I still think about him.  I still haven't deleted his emails.  I actually didn't think he was so close to death that I was shocked when he passed on.  LIVE ABOVE CANCER - that's great.  Wishing you and your Hubby the very best!

Good for you on putting cancer in the rearview mirror.

I am a little jealous with all those paradise images that you post online. Are you actually traveling to all of those places?

It was such a joy reading your post this morning. I've been in a real rut all weekend long. Mostly thinking about the big elephant in the room. I'm off of all drugs now and just in the "waiting game". Got to work this morning and the first thing I did (besides get coffee) was to log on to H/W.
You and Mr. WW have been a inspiration to many of us. Your post are always written from the heart and meaningful. I know exactly what that "walk of Pain" is living so far from love ones and family.
I wish you and Mr. WW all the best this world has to offer. Have a great time in NY. Maybe one year Patsy and I will host a GFMPH North West style.

You have had a great attitude for such a hard journey that you have both been on these past 2 years. Congratulations on reaching the 2 year mark.

I have been sober 24 years May 2nd and I celebrate it yearly. Now I have added May 8th 2012, the day I was diagnosed with PCa. Certain dates will always be milestones in our lives.

Good luck in the coming years and continue to celebrate each and everyday, one day at a time.

Raddad and I joined HW about the same time in July 2011 and we became instant friends. He was there for so many like you and Mr Wort and his spirit and memory is still touching so many of us today. His body is gone and he is pain free but I see his big smiling face beaming down on us every day.

Thanks to GFMPH and people like you, Cajun Jeff, Sonny, Worried Guy and so many more like Raddad we all have grown so much and  learned how to live above cancer and are choking the life out of every bonus day. I can't wait to see you again on the cruise in December, we now have 13 couples booked with a couple of surprise people booking in the next few days. Unfortunately I will not be going to GFMPH NY, our grandson's 5th birthday is Oct 3 and we are leaving Sept. 28th to drive to Texas to be with him and our family.

Raddad and I agreed many times that the only good thing to come from our having PC was the friendships we made through Healing Well that will last a lifetime.

What an absolutely wonderful post about a very impressive journey. You two have come so far since I first met you and I am so pleased that y'all have set a wonderful example for all of us who fight this battle. We look forward to seeing y'all on the 19thf September as we start our journey to the GFMPH gathering in Hilton.

Water Guy... You're so right about him being there for so many. Just really, really sad that I missed my opportunity to meet him at the prior GFMPH when we were heading for a two month move to Houston for radiation.

Sorry you guys won't be in Rochester... But our gang may be rocking that ship! lol

Bayou Jackal... I had to look back at my post. How in the world did I skip your name? You were right there with Jeff and Sonny! I'm so sorry, as I certainly was excluding you. No way would I do that, my friend!

Gunfighter... I am ALWAYS amazed at the details you remember. Yes, I was "A Cat On A Hot Tin Roof!" According to some folks, I still am. :) Exactly how do you remember all of those details???
