-at times things seem so complex - but when viewed objectively ( like from a stranger) - it can be so simple ...

-you gave a lot of information of what trauma your urethra and penis went through in the last 5 weeks - the difficulty in inserting a catheter - stopping and rescheduling surgery - post op pain and confused nerve endings - erections and the like ...

-my personal - patient to patient response/opinion .... you are still healing from that trauma - they stretched the sides of the urethra and caused trauma all the way down - not just at the tip / point of entry

- just think of tree growing rapidly one year and its bark has to split to accommodate the growth - that is what I think happened to you when they fit the catheter into your smaller diameter urethra.

-soaking in a hot tub fits the bill - the warmth helps relax the tissue - an ebsom salt bath might help.

- the spontanious erections are just reaction from the nerve endings trying to communicate with each other and recognizing what are trigger signals in regards to your "new normal".

-I don't know if an analgesic squirted into the urethra (with a very thin diameter plastic end syringe) would calm things down - maybe just at night to help you sleep.

p.s. I had some damage done to my urethra when in my 20's and fooling around sexually with medical sounds, so know what you are feeling .

did you try pyridium? it worked well for me when I had a little of that situation.

and yes, way to soon to scope, the urethra to bladder neck connection is one of the most complex parts of the operation, and sure your surgery does not want to injure that area as its healing

I wonder if you have passed a clot or stitch or something that has scratched things all the way down so that it is stinging like an internal papercut.
I have also had skin of penis react to the dampness of pads and to the material that some ( cheaper) pads are mad of. Felt like 'jock itch' on the inside and outside. The appropriate cream helped very quickly.

Repair Guy... if you looked back at some of my earlier posts I went through about the same exact thing. Eventually figured out I was being irritated by the catheter being too tight, which caused a bacterial infection. UIT tests were all negative, finally treated with a differnt anti-biotic and it worked. I'll gladly find the name if you need it, just don't have access to it here at work. I never took a warm bath, but did sit on a heating pad during the day and that helped. I'm 3 monthes out, really no uretha pain left. Once the infection was under control everything was fine. I did use the AZO once, enjoyed the "orange" colors, but it did provide temporary relief. Hang in there my friend, it will get better...Art
