The three main players in PC treatment are Urologists, Radiation Oncologists and Medical Oncologists. Those of us undergoing Hormone Therapy or ADT, which specialist administers your ADT shots?

My Urologists nurse. He told me back in Oct., when my present HT stops working, he'll turn me over to my Oncologist. Hope my present HT keeps working for many months\years!!
Everyday, we pray that my present HT keeps my numbers very very low!!
Praying for everyone here.

My RO's nurse does the deed..In Oct I'll get last 6 month lupron shot(hopefully) and will stick with him for pas tests--When psa goes up I'll rely on him for a MO.. Also have a new pcp for annuals but don't use him for PC..oh well--I'm confused! Also have a VA doctor for diabetes, arthritis, drugs.. complicated.

Only my uro's nurse, Lilly. She shadows him everywhere and is the only person in the office that gives me the shots. Hopefully she has given me my last as I got a three month Eligard two weeks ago.

My Medical oncologist at UF & Shands saw no reason for me to have to drive an hour and a half to Gainesville when my urologist office is local and a Lupron shot is a Lupron shot.
However with me starting Xgeva on Monday and monthly thereafter, and it being only offered by medical oncologist's lab, I may switch when December 4-month shot becomes due.

My MO's nurse does it. Interestingly, there are two of them and when one does it I'm sore for a few days afterwards and when the other one does it I can't even tell.
BTW, I get one-month shots so in theory that should be a bit less noticeable of an injection.

My Uro's nurse is the one.
The right cheek is her favorite place.
She has a weapon in her hands - who am I to argue?

My first one was done by my uro's nurse.
She was done before I knew she was going to do it, and I literally didn't feel a thing. Absolutely no sensation from the injection at all.
Until a few hours later, then it became a bit achy. For about 24 hours, it felt sort of like a bruise. It cleared up quickly after that, with no further anything from the injection site.
It still amazes me that a simple, nearly painless injection of about a thimbleful of whitish fluid is capable of crushing my testosterone system for a full 6 months. Amazing!!

I've never been sure who actually gives me the shot. I think they are all employees of the center -- not of any particular doctor. I'm pretty sure my Medical Oncologist puts them up to it. Only one of them actually stabs me in the hip with the rusty pipe -- the other four large women with mustaches are just there to hold me down. Every shot makes me a little bit easier to manage the next time. I get weaker and weaker...
... kidding
... mostly ...
I've gotten the shots from two different nurses, both very nice. They are on the staff of the cancer center and give shots for all the doctors. My medical oncologist writes the order and they get it done.

My URO left the practice just after being diagnosed and treatment decided. My MO's nurse gave me my last shot in July.

I'm finding it interesting that Urologists have been able to hold onto this very lucrative procedure...The 6 month shots, be it Lupron, Eligard or whatever get billed at around $3000. That's not chump change...It was my Radiation Oncologist who prescribed ADT as an adjunct to SRT but he sent me back to my Urologist / surgeon for the shot. I asked him why he didn't administer the shot himself and he just smiled and said "I'll tell you about that someday"...Hmmmmm..Lots of stuff goes on backstage in the medical profession..
